I'm trying to place a 5m332 (turbo 5sp) in place of the n/t trans. I have realised the shim plate is diff between the two but what about starters and flywheels? am I able to retain the n/t flywheel and starter?

As much as I appreciate the reply I already read that post... long ago before I purchased the trans actually.

the post only says I need a turbo flywheel bout nothing about the starter.

Sorry for the incorrect spelling. My hands are dirty and I'm really not trying to junk up the kyb any more then necessary

but then again I'm a newb so what do I know....

I'm gonna drop to gearbox and compare the 2. I'm pretty sure the turbo trans holds the starter out further to accommodate for the larger flywheel. =) Head against wall at this point cause I didn't pick up the dust plate, flywheel or anything else other then the mount..

I didn't realize when I said diff if was mostly likely to be considered differential. That won't happen again ;)

Assuming both 6-bolt or both 7-bolt, you must use the FWD turbo flywheel and FWD starter plate if you use the FWD turbo transmission. The starter doesn't matter.

Picked up a used t flywheel, swapped clutches, again. LOL. Ended up cutting a section off the n/t plate so I could retain the portion that's around the starter. The lower plate will have to be sourced unfortunately.

Now lets see how long the girl friend gets with this gearbox. She put 200k from the non turbo. total 280k but I would consider her launches excessive..

Transmission runs fine for me but the g/f says about a hr of driving it doesn't want to go into 4th. I asked if she was pressing clutch to floor, she responded like I was asking the site "how do I turbo to my car".

Getting ready to dive into the gearbox tear down and rebuild. I'm having difficulty find a manual for this trans. Any tips"

Awesome thanks!! It the gf's daily driver. I was in it a few days ago and there is a whirling sound coming from that gearbox. What can I say though I'm sure she isn't easy on it and apparently neither was the previous owners, LOL unfortunately I can't pull it cause she'd be walking or I would be. Gotta get the 89 (conquest) running so I can put her in my hyundai accent.
