Hello i have searched around and i am still undecided on which turbo timer i should get. as of right now, i am not looking to "modify" my car, just take care of it. Now i have seen the HKS turbo timer harnesses that work with Apexi, blitz, hks...ect... SO my question is, with the harness, is it an actual plug and play setup? And if so, which timers have you guys had the best luck with? Thanks

well i have the HKS type 1 with the greddy harness and it took maybe 10 min to hook up. its nice and small and looks good. but all turbo timers do the same thing

I would say that as long as it idles your car for a few minutes it doesn't matter what brand it is.;)

True, but i am looking for a brand that i can just plug in and go. i don't want to splice wiring, or hard wire it in, just something simple and efficient... Now with the HKS plug, were does it plug into at?

inside the steering wheel area. but you would still have to splice at the wire that connects to the handbrake for the timer to actually work. then theres the speed and rpm wire which are optional, but you need them if you wanna use all the neat features of the turbo timer such as 1/4 mile times and the auto mode

Which I would recommend to do if you want to run the timer to its full potential.:aha:

Turbo timers are deemed far to important IMHO. Unless you are doing gymkahna or road course racing or something, you don't need one. If you drag race, by time your car gets turned around and you drive the 1/4 slowly back to the pits, it's already cooled down enough. Daily driving doesn't require it at all. I have one and the only time I even use it is to keep the a/c running while I run into the store real quick or something.

Agreed, except for the a/c store thing LOL. I had one in my Neon hooked to the e-brake. I think I used it maybe a week, then I would just shut the car off without the e-break engaged. Just drive civil the last mile or half mile before you get to where you are going.

But couldn't you also think of a turbo timer as a cheap little insurance policy on your turbo?

I went with blitz for the TT. It's small has many features and was relatively easy to install.

Smartest post in the thread. Keep it in vacuum before you pull into your driveway or the strip club.
