turbo timer with viper 5002

does anyone know how to install a turbo timer on a gst with the viper 5002 alarm system on it with the screen on the remote..i bought the car with the alarm system already on it and have no clue what any of it does. so i was just curious if anyone has ever done this and possibly could help me out on this one..thanks guys

No, the 5002 doesn't not have a feature for a turbo timer. You can get one and hard wire it, but I don't know how you would be able to auto-arm the alarm. I have my Viper 5002 set to auto-lock and auto-arm in 30 seconds after closing all doors.

Why do you need a turbo timer on a car with a water cooled turbo? Do you run an oil cooled turbo that requires you to run a turbo timer?

i really dont know a lot about turbos man..i jus got the car and im just learning as i go and a lot of guys say that a turbo timer would increase the life of your turbo because of the oil lines could get "coked" with the oil that left in your lines. So a stock turbo doesnt really need a turbo timer?

A majority of turbos fall into 2 categories, dry bearing and wet bearing. Dry bearing = air cooled while wet bearing = oil + water cooled. The stock turbo on DSMs are wet bearing and cooled by coolant in your car. You don't necessarily need to run a turbo timer unless you run a dry bearing turbo. If you drive the crap out of your car, by the time you pull in to a parking lot in the next 20-30 seconds, the coolant has already cooled the turbo. Save your money and buy some performance parts.

ok so i got a 1g stock turbo, ## saying i dont need a turbo timer and can run hard and just shut the engine off once im parked??

How would one know if they have a DRY or WET bearing in their stock turbo.
