I'm new to this forum, and I just bought a 1995 talon tsi awd. The previous owner swapped the 4g63 engine to a 1g along with the tranny and turbo. Right now the turbo is the stock 1g turbo, which I believe is the td06-b14, has a bent fin and isn't boosting well. I have the stock 2g turbo (garrett t25) that came with the car. Can I directly swap the two, are both 1g and 2g DSM turbo's oil cooled? Is the piping the same between these two turbos? Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, they can be swapped but it takes some work. The piping is quite different, the 14b outlet is on top, the T-25 is on the bottom. The oil feed line from the 14b goes to the block, the T-25 goes down by the oil filter. The oil return line is pretty close to the same, just file the screws a little bit closer together. The water lines should be fine with some tweaking. This should be right (I'm doing the oposite to my car: 14b on a 2g)

Sell the T25 on ebay and get at least another 14B (you can find them for cheap) or maybe a 16G if you can afford it. It isn't worth the hassle to put a Ttoosmall on that engine. Alot of 2G guys would love to have a 1G engine in their car, don't f@$k it up and put that little POS turbo on.

Agreed:thumb: get another 14b... should be pretty cheap since you have a T25 to cash in on.
