turbo starting to die?

would like to know if my turbo is going. atm i have a stock t25. i dont know how much miles on it, however the engine is rebuilt with 40k on it. body is close to 200k. so it is between those to numbers (most likly closer to 200k). so down to the problem now. sometimes when i go WOT i feel like im towing something or hitting a wall. while other times my car will pull hard. this happens in gears 2-4 mainly. i doubt it is a boost leak since this dosent happen every time. i havent done a boost leak test yet but if it is highly recommended then i will see if my friend can help me so it. just would like to know if it is going. would give me a reason to go to a big 16g

take the air intake off and see if the fans will move back and forth or side to side...but it sounds like fuel cut or a clutch slippage problem...but get a e316g ftw

yes boost leak test, then you can rule it out

are you seeing any blue smoke under WOT when you punch it? failing turbos usually being to start spooling oil into the Intercooler and IC pipes which eventually gets the the throttle body and thus into your combustion chamber

Also take off you intake pipe and stick your fingers inside there to feel the shaft play. if you can move the turbine side to side pretty well as well as in and out, its time for a rebuild

no smoke at all. ill see if i can do a boost leak test when i go to my friends shop to install new rotors. most likely i am going to get a e316g

i doubt its the clutch seeing as it only has 40k miles on it, but you never know. i did learn how to drive stick on it XD (ACT 2100)
