Alright heres how it is.

About a week ago my car was working fine, but just a couple days ago it started sounding funny and then throughout the couple days after stopped boosing right and then started to smoke ( A LOT ) and now the "check engine" light is on and my car doesnt boost at all and doesnt really run that well. I stick my finger in the turbo inlet and I can move it up and down left and right.... and it leaks oil. I took off the side mount and about 2 quarts of oil came out on the floor.

Is my turbo done?

Could something else also be wrong?

please help asap

My friends Probe with t25 did the same thing from overboosting the turbo it blew the seals inside the center section, but that was because he was spiking to like 18 psi. Is it the stock turbo? and how much boost have you been running on it?

Your turbo is dead, my friend. If it was a T25, don't worry. It's onward and upward for you. :) Best thing to do is replace it with either a T28 or TDO5 of some sort (16g, 14b, etc.). With a T28, you won't have to do anything with water lines, pipes, oil returns or feed; Straight plug and play. If you want to go with a 16g or 14b, you'll need to do a little work to get it to fit, but not a big deal. There are install kits available, or you can make your own. The big thing is, don't drive your car in its current condition. Read the vfaqs on 16g installation if you choose to go with a TD05 style turbo. Here's one.

Here's another one to help you.

Let us know what you decide to do and we can help you from there.

Thank you for your help...

I figured that that was the problem, yes it was the stock t25 and it was set at 15 and once in a while spiked to about 18-19. The guy I bought it from has it set that way and the boost controller is stuck haha.

Just needed to get other opinion for the rents.

Yes upward and onward to better things now...

Evo 3 16g is goin in :thumb:

Christmas will be good this year haha ROFL

From what I've seen most people on here say about the Evo3 16g, you will be most pleased. Kinda wish I had one. :)

yes my friend the turbo is history. bad news if you have no money but good news if you were looking for an excuse to upgrade. some people have sugested the t28 which is a good turbo but honestly, way over priced! Turbochargers.com has a evo3 gt that costs 1/3 of a t28 and will out perform it any day of the year. the install is not tricky at all and there are step by step instructions out there on how to do the swap your self.

yeah the money factor is fine...

the reason I needed other opinion is to convince the rents to lend me the cash to fix and upgrade, the Evo 3 is one of my fave. turbos so thats what I decided to go with. My friend managed to make 400+ hp on his talon with one and I intend to do the same. Install should be a piece of cake... :sneaky:

I've been very pleased with the EVO III GT. It spools virtually as fast as the 14b and can handle more boost. Plus, versus the 16g, it has the 34mm flapper. I believe I saw one on ebay the other day for $499 plus like $25 for shipping. Not bad at all.

yup thats the one Im getting plus the install kit of cource, should have it in by christmas or maybe even before :thumb:

I don't want to turn this into a MHI EVO III vs EVO III GT thread. But if you are not aware that there are different "EVO III" turbos please search for past discussions and read up before purchasing. I am not endorsing either turbo, I just want to make sure 3agle95tal0n is well informed before the Ps are hit up. :thumb:

Good point, I was going to try to clarify a little more, but I was hoping that if he's looking for a new turbo that he's at least done some research! HA
