It changes blue ish from dirt and grease. Ideally, it will turn that sexy gold. To prevent this, after you install and before starting it up, wipe it down reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally good with like, windex or degreaser and dont touch it, ever. If you do when its cold, clean it again and you should be ok.

They change color because of heat. So if you dont want it to discolor you could leave it in your house.

Or get it ceramic coated.

BTW, whats with your "mods" listed in your sig?

I know why they change color, I'm just looking for ways to prevent the discoloration. The mods listed in my sig are a joke LOL. Would cleaning the manifold with brake cleaner do the job? At work we use brake cleaner to clean almost everything and it works wonders when it comes to getting rid of grease and dirt...

I would imagine. We use that at my work too, its great. I cant see why it wouldnt work, only one way to try right? :thumb:

They make a polish that prevents blueing, you can find it in motorcycle shops "harley davidson" etc, they use it to stop their exhaust pipes from turning.

That polish works, but man you'll hate life trying to keep it up. If you let it go too far you'll have to take it all the way off to use power tools on it.

So I guess, how important is keeping the shine to you? I would just get it Jet Hot coated personally.

Its never going to stay shiny unless you don't turn the car on. Ever. You can only prevent the blue discoloration.

The pipes on my bike are still shiny, and merely polished, not any type of coating on them. BUT it takes ALOT of effort.
