Edmonton,
I changed my oil wit fully synthetic and afterwards i noticed that the turbo is leaking like alot of oil (t-25). IS this hindering my performance alot ??? what can i do to fix this or should i just buy a new turbo, thanks

I would'nt say it's hindering performance, but if you leak so much oil that your engine and turbo are running dry, then you're gonna have problems. Real big problems. Is the oil coming from the center of the turbo, or near the head?

Did you determine your turbo was leaking oil by checking oil coming out of the compressor? If so, did you check for oil before you think you saw a change (before you switched to synthetic)? If you didn't check for oil in the compressor beforehand, it may have already been there. The breather off the valve cover blows oil into your intake (very small amount), and this can build up over time and have nothing to do with a bad turbo. If you clean out your intake pipe, compressor (as much as you can reach) and then drive it around and then check again, new oil in the compressor housing outlet would probably indicate that your turbo is failing.

You can also check for shaft play in your T25 (both side-to-side and in-out) by pulling the intake pipe and grabbing the compressor wheel and trying to wiggle it (make sure your car is cool!). If you have alot of shaft play and are leaking oil, I'd start thinking about a turbo upgrade or alteast rebuilding your turbo center section.

yes, have you checked for shaft play, are you sure that its not your oil drain leaking? or the feed? If you plan on stepping up, I will have a nice ported 14b with no problems on ebay soon.
