So I'm not sure if this is too advanced for the newbie post section but this is why I need to join this forum.

I do not drive a dsm, however I am using a 99 eclipse GST turbo setup.

Its a t25 with an internal wastegate and a 10lb spring.

Now to start with I just bought this car and all of my problems started with the emissions.

I retuned with no luck and was told to pull a charge pipe by my tuner so it would boost into the atmosphere while on the runway. (Still Failed)

After words I noticed a pretty good amount of oil near the exit of that charge pipe and the surrounding areas. I knew the car burnt oil when I bought it and am now convinced that its from the turbo turbine wheel seal. I'm not sure if this happened before or after pulling the charge pipe.

SO now I am looking at rebuilding the turbo. (yes I looked for used turbo's but I don't want to run into more of the issues and they're not going for so cheap around here) I don't want to buy a new one from a dealer. I have pretty good knowledge on how rebuild these and have had many years rebuilding engines. Would anyone be able to recommend a "decent" turbo rebuilt kit? I found a few on Ebay which I'm not too fond of, and am also looking at G-Pop Shop rebuilt kits which people say are very reputable. Does anyone have any advice for me?

P.S I'm not sure if this is normal or not but the turbo is not having ANY issues. It spools ten pounds quick on my tune, 3500rmps in 1st & 2nd, and lower in upper gears, its strong and am getting good vacuum.

First, as many will tell you here - don't vent to atmosphere. The ecu is expecting the additional air back to the intake from the BOV and the car won't run right if you vent to atmosphere. Not an expert on this, but it's something I've read over and over on this site.

Second, hopefully jusMX141 will comment on your post - he is the turbo Guru on this site. I'm not sure what your budget is and how comfortable you are with rebuilding your turbo, but Justin rebuilds them for a fair price. You could PM him for a price quote - was around $150 plus shipping both ways.

Gpopshop has a good, non Chinese, rebuild kit.

Hope this was helpful for you .

Pulled a charge pipe, intake piping so boost wasn't hitting the map sensor and adding more fuel while at emissions.

@CellerDweller the emissions chip we tuned was not meant to compensate for boost. Was going to just pin actuator arm open but kind of a pain on these.

First and foremost, what kind of car are we talking about? You said you don't drive a DSM and that you are using a dsm turbo set up.

I'm from a non emissions state, so I'm not sure what all goes into one, but why would pulling an intercooler pipe, thus venting all the boosted air to atmosphere, help you pass an emissions test? That will make your car pig rich and throw your afr's all out of wack, I don't think that would be my first step to passing emissions.

Edit: Ah, you ninja edited your post. See your tune is not for boost. I'm just confusing myself at this point.

As for turbo rebuilds, there are a few people on here that can help you get it rebuilt. Check the freelance section of the classifieds.

Yeah I failed miserably with my performance chip. Had to try again, its my 94 Honda DD. The computer, even with a tune when it sees boost tuned or not will add fuel to try to compensate, by boosting into the atmosphere I was trying to stay as close to the tune we had done as possible. So when tuning and changing a/f ratios you also have to add to account the computer will add to yours.

I am confident I can rebuilt it I just want a decent enough kit I guess. I also forgot to ask is that turbo ball bearing?
