Turbo Knock... Please help

Ok so I just got my gst and...
In 3rd or 4th gear after about 4k rpms the whole engine stops and i get a hard knock. I know next to nothing about the car at this point, and really could use some help. thx

Does it do a loud pop and stop all of a sudden and then you can get back in it and everything is fine? If so, it could be fuel cut.

i had the same thing happen to me not even 2 days ago. there wasnt a knock untill mid rpm. it sound like a rod knock that goes away at lower rpms?

I looked all over this site. But i didnt see anything on fuel cut but thats exactally what it does. So how to you fix it, the FAQ makes
it seem like you just have to deal with it and you can only prevent it not fix it.

I had a very similar problem, I changed my plugs and wires and it was gone. Check your wires for cracks or anything. Mine looked ok but they were shot.

You should try searching again. Fuel cut is a very common problem discussed a few times a day for the past 8 years on the site. It's when the ECU detects excessive airflow and decides it should cut fuel and spark until the airflow drops back to a reasonable level.

Most likely cause of fuel cut is a boost leak. Boost leaks and boost leak testing are covered all the time on the site as well. It's a test you should do at every other oil change or so.

Fuel cut is fun, specially the first time it happens or when you have someone else who's never experienced it in the car. "WTF WAS THAT?" "oh it's just fuel cut..."

The only time it sux is when you are trying to prove a point (ie. "my car is faster than yours, let's go on green" or "this thing is pretty fast, watch this"). It all ends up in one big pop and you trying to explain that it's like the one time your dick goes limp in the middle but it works great every other time...
