Turbo kit ?

ok, so I posted an add on CL that I was looking for a turbo for my 99 rs, well I got a response from a guy with a rev 9 turbo kit and he only wants 300 for it, never used, and still in the packaging. Is it worth it to pick it up? I mean if anything I could just use everything but the turbo and find a higher quality one to put right? It also comes with an fpr oil catch can and custom manifold.

For 300 I'd buy it. Sell the turbo for a couple hundred and buy a quality unit. Of course you'll need a way to tune and some block/head upgrades to take full advantage of it. As well as some other equipment. But 300 is hard to beat

Looks like some ebay junk, I would not recommend that turbo kit to anyone at all.

That looks like a universal ebay kit.

That intercooler kit, and maybe even the manifold are probably ok, but I wouldn't put the rest of it anywhere near my car. Hell, you can buy a 420a turbo manifold and a universal IC kit for less than $200 on ebay anyway, so unless you think you are going to be able to offload a bunch of junk to make all your money back, you'd be better off just buying those, and then completing the kit with quality parts, so that you are not back her in 3 months asking where to buy a built 420A, because your off brand FPR gave out and destroyed your motor.

The sad truth though, is that for the amount of time and money you'd have to spend to build a somewhat reliable turbo RS, you could have have just bought a GST.
