i was wondering if the 1.8 liter sohc guys know that hyundai made a 1.8l dohc that came in elantras. i have seen quit a few of both and most of the time just dismissed them as junk because they werent turbo cars but here recently since i have run out of stuff to do to my car at the moment, i started looking at the 1.8's just to see what simalarties there are and it looks like they same head gasket surface. if this is already known and or common knowledge dont bump me to death for it,it was just a idea.

grab a block form the dohc hyndai. get a old head gasket form the 1.8 eclipse or whatever and see if it lines up with the block deck on the hyndai motor. if it lines up your all good. youll just have to figure out the pulley and timing belt situation as things wont line up. youll have to make some setup using the 2 motors.
