This question is for anyone running turbo grind cams, Crower or Crane. I have the Crower Stage II turbo grind cams and I am wondering if I should or need to run lower idle fuel pressure because these cams pull more vacuum and actually causes the car to run rich.

What are you guys experiencing with these cams?

Does the fuel pressure have to be adjusted?

I do not have Megasquirt or Portfueler due to a lack of funs. I just have the parts that come with the Hahn Stage II kit for the fuel system.

Thanks in advance for any advice or comments.

Yeah I have the Crane 0014 turbo grind cams. I haven't had to lower fuel pressure or anything and more vaccuum is actually what you want.

I'm trying to stay on the rich side of things until I turn up the boost. Sorry can't answer your question specifically...

Like Blitzeclips, I run the crane turbo grinds. I also have the hahn stage 2 kit and my fuel pressure is normal no adjustment needed... My car idles pretty smooth (smooth for big cams anyway :p) If you check out my car domain on page two there is a little video of my car, Towards the end of the video i have sound clips of it idling and revving.. Here is the link..Screamin Eagle - wilmington, Ohio

I guess what I am trying to do is see if these cams run rough, or something else is wrong with my car. I have set the timing and everything is TDC, but it idles rough and wants to shut off. Sometimes the RPMs drop to 200-300 and come back up to around 1000. I didn't know if it was just a result of the bigger cams. I am not driving my car right now because of this problem, but there is not a check engine light to give me any indication that something is wrong with it.

I still would like to find someone with these cams and see if they run a little different than the Crane cams.

I appreciate your responses to my questions.

How does your car idle with the Crane cams?

I do not know that many people have the Crower cams, so maybe some info on how the car reacts to the Crane would be helpful.

My car doesn't have the smoothest idle either. It drops to 6-700 maybe even 500 every now and then. But I don't even bother worrying about it because it's happened since my motor swap and the car never dies out on me. Except the other day when I ran out of gas on the dyno. Luckily it was at idle. Sounded like my car grew another 6 cylinders or turned into a jr. dragster.

I never had a stock boosted 420a then added the cams, so I couldn';t notice a difference... I put the cams in along with 1mm o/s valves new lifters/rockers, 2.2 stoke, ported and polished head, etc... So it would be hard for me to say what I gained or noticed from them.

I do know, based on another RS-T @ 8psi I've raced, that they along with my long rods give me about an extra car off the line when I raced anothr RS-T. For some reason my car has great low=end compared to other 420a-t's I've seen.. I can only hope this is probably from the cams..

Sorry I couldn't help out anymore..

I found something on 2gnt that might be helpful. It will be more work, but if it works it will definitely be worth trying.

There was a guy on there that recommended that when using aftermarket cam gears you should compare the timing marks on the stock ones with the aftermarket. Most of the time he said you have to make new lines just to match it up. I am going to make sure that mine match up and that the time is dead on. If this does not solve the problem....I do not know what to do next.

It will probably be a little while before I am able to do this, but I will let you know what results from it.

See my car actually dies out and some times even hesitates, and other times seems to run strong. I have to get this problem corrected.

I appreciate you guys responding to this thread.

Sounds really good Car_guy!

I talked to a friend of mine and he is able to help me check the adjustable cam gear timing marks, if we can't get that we are going to put the stock gears back on and see if that works......

I cried when I saw your auto shifter car guy  I really liked your car and setup and that was like seeing a really hot chick and having her pull her pants down and having a dick. j/k still a great build. Just curious how do the crane turbo cams compare to the crower stage 2's and the crower turbo grind for a big turbo setup?

Ok so basically, the 1995 model Eclipse is really quite strange. The cam gears that come on the 420A have a few different sets of timing marks that can work for certain cars. So, we compared the adjustable cam gear timing marks to the factory cam gears and drew new marks. Then we tried to get it timed with those new marks and it was still off. So, I just decided to go ahead and put the stock cam gears and we got it timed correctly. It sounds great!

Now I just have to fix the tire that is flat and figure out why it went flat and I will be on the road again!

Thanks for your help guys.

The Crane 0014 "turbo-grind" cams should not really idle any rougher than the stockers. I had them in my built Howell Stroker motor. I have heard that the Crowers are the better way to go. The Crane 0016's are a little more aggressive from what I understand (not from Crowers ).

Holy shit where did you come from Jon? Haha I didn't know you were still on these forums. If you see this PM me and I'll send you some pictures of the car post-turbo. BTW, you mean my cams and stroker motor? LOL j/k.

HAHA, hey whats up Chris!!! Yah I got a wild hair up my a$$ and decided to check this place out again. Been a long while.

AND YES, its YOUR ENGINE NOW!

Yeah I also run the Crane turbo grind cams but then I cant get a descent idle out of mine but that is due the Megasquirt which is a whole other story! Glad you got yours running!

Nvm they said they don't have any cores

Edit: Well I know it's not recomended but I went with the stage 3's so we'll see how they work. I figure with the 80mm tb and the P&P head I SHOULD be ok.

Keep trying man. Mine turned out not to be the cams although it seemed that way. Just keep researching different things to try and see if it fixes it. Of course, I recommend all that are free to try first.

Yea, when I ordered mine they did not have cores and it took around 2-2.5 months to get them in, but I finanlly got them.

Good luck with the C3's.
