I know this sounds retarded, but does anybody know of a pipe that can be bolted in place of the turbocharger? So basically, a custom pipe from the exhaust manifold to either the O2 housing, or the DP. I understand a place called punishment racing, that seems to be out of business now, used to sell a Header for the NT DSM's that would bolt up to a turbo style downpipe. With them out of business, I am looking at getting an SS autochrome turbo manifold, having the delete pipe I speak of either made, or found, and then bolting up a 2.5" downpipe from a Turbo DSM.

I have owned a few turbo DSM's, now I own a GMC typhoon and my girlfriends 1G NT is in need of some mods... :) Most the headers for the NT DSM's suck, so im trying to go a custom route... I know all about scavenging and blah blah blah, so no need to go into a rant about how the motor wont have scavenging yadda yadda yadda... My GSX went 12.02 @ 118, so I know how to make things move... I'm only a newbie when it comes to Non-turbo cars... haha, however funny that sounds.

Your best bet would be to buy the flanges (which are availabel to make sheetmetal exhaust manis, and tubular 02 housings) and just weld it up. I'm not sure if you have the fab skills that this would require, if not I believe a performance exhaust shop should be able to do this for less than 100$.

I'm just wondering, are you in the process of converting her car from n/t to turbo and just don't have a turbo yet? or what exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Because if you do know how a non turbo motor needs to flow, than you'd understand the route you're taking may not be the best option. If you are keeping it non-turbo, and just trying to get a little more power out of it, I'd start with some cams, freer flowing intake, and buy a header. then just build your own exhaust back from that. (you could possibly cut the turbo downpipe and flange it to work with the header... I'm not really sure)

Also, do some research on the SSautochrome piece. I've never used one, however hearing about how shitty they are, I never would.

I'm not trying to convert her car to Turbo. Im just trying to make a header that is worth a damn and looks hot. I hadn't heard anything about the SSautochrome piece, but I KNOW the Pacesetter piece is just that... a piece of S**t. Just from the pics on ebay, I can tell the SS one blows the pacesetter away. I'm not too hot on any of the other brands that make headers for the non-turbo either. Pretty much just rice. Plus I really want to use a 2.5" turbo DSM exhaust, since most of the exhausts out there for the N/T are 2" or 2 1/4".

After thinking about it, I was looking at the equal length one from SS or OBX with the T3/T4 flange, since It looks like Im going to end up making my own delete pipe (yeah, ive got the skills, but I would have just bought it to make things easy, had it been a reality... oh and I was hoping for a stainless piece, which I dont have the skills to make). This way, the header primaries would be equal length to induce scavenging, and it doesnt really matter what the flanges are. Its only $150 on ebay anyhow. Another $50-100 for the flanges and bends, and Ill be good to go.

Thanks,
-Rob
