Anything exist to remove the muffler and just run a pipe/tip out the back... pretty much same setup as stock minus muffler?

I thought it would be straight forward to just weld in a piece of tubing, but I looked under the car and the exhaust is routed all over the place. Not interested in a whole exhaust system at this point.

umm i think you would be better off just getting a 3" catback, maybe just a SSAC if you are looking fora cheap one,

you want a 3" exchaust not stock size

Just cut off the muffler and put a pipe there... It's going to be loud as hell, but thats the easiest way to do it.

There would be a big hole between the downpipe and the rest of the exhaust so the exhaust wouldn't get to the muffler, but after re-reading his post it didn't actually say anything about doing this at the track so that must just have been an assumption on my part. Assuming that he wants it just for track time it would be a simple modification that would net him significant power at the expense of hearing anything ever again. If it is for daily use then I just wouldn't suggest it. Fine a straight section of pipe and just cut it (straight!) and weld a flange on each side, it shouldn't be a big deal and any exhaust shop can do it for you.

My first exhaust was exactly what he is discribing. I just hacked off the muffler and clamped a piece of pipe to the existing exhaust. Then I clamped an autozone tip to the pipe and held the whole thing up with hoseclamps to the hangers to hold the whole thing up. only cost about $25 and no welding involved. And it wasnt loud either. Kinda sounded like a stock crochrocket.

Just taking off the stock muffler, in my opinion, is foolish. But to answer your question (OP) not that I'm aware of, as far as a vender offering something that "bolts on" so to speak. The muffler is welded to the stock exhaust tubbing and there is not an actual "axle back" system like is available for many other cars. You could easily buy a tip of your choice and have your local muffler shop weld on a piece of tubing, the tip, and secure it to your car for a very low price. Why do you want to just take off the factory muffler if I may inquire?

I would take it to a local muffler shop to see what they say. I can't see a muffler-delete axle back being more than $100 bucks or so. Honestly though, you'll be much better off getting a ssac cat back for a bit more than just hacking off your muffler. That is, unless you're going for noise, at which point just hack off the muffler and have fun.

I want to take the muffler off because it's too darn quiet! I can barely tell the car is running.
