I have done a bunch of searching but I just want to sum up my findings and make sure I'm understanding correctly.

I'm building a 4g64 / 4g63 setup, using the sandwich oil cooler. I'm keeping the oil cooler feed off the thermostat housing and using the return on the water pipe right by the water pump. I already have the coolant feed for the turbo plugged in the block.

I need to plug the coolant return nipple which is on the water pipe right where it joins the thermostat housing with the big oring connection right?

Options for plugging said nipple I've seen:

Cut the original hose shorter and screw a large bolt into said hose with thread sealent and then hose clamp it together to make a plug

Tap the nipple itself with threads and actually screw a bolt into it with thead sealent to make a plug

welding it by cutting the nipple completely off and welding the hole, or cutting the nipple short and using vice grips to crimp / clamp it closed and then weld the seam

I have thought about putting a t into the line that feeds the oil cooler and running the new line to said nipple as well.

I know welding is the best option but I'd like to see if I'm missing any options or if I can get some opinions from people that went a route that didn't involve welding it.

If I get a water pipe from a non turbo car I need to switch to the air cooled 90 ofh which is not something I'd like to do at this time, appreciate the response though!

I'm going to run a holset turbo, which is oil-cooled only. So I picked up a new OEM n/t water pipe, and also a new forward-facing oil filter housing. This elimnates the sandwich, plus allows more room under the alternator. So you do not "need" to switch to the air-cooled housing, as there are other options available. There are also 2 ports on the FFOFH that you can use for things like turbo feed and oil temp/pressure gauges.

JNZ has all these parts and you could do a total, clean swap, for about $100.

NT pipe:

$53
FFOFH

$46 (with new bolts + gasket)

OR

If you are bypassing the throttle body coolant feeds, keep your sandwich, get NT pipe, use the coolant lines that were going to your throddle body, and extend hose from the send off the NT pipe nipple down to the sandwich, and return back to the t-stat housing.

I was going back in forth in my head which direction to take, ultimately chose the cleanest and least worrysome setup, which is the FFOFH (no sandwich to fail).

This is for a 7 bolt, I'm not finding a 2g non turbo water pipe I could use.. Don't want to swap ofh, water pipe, and thermostat housing.

Still running coolant to the throttle body as well but that was a great thought.

Well, quick n dirty: Go to NAPA. You can find different size rubber caps. I used a thinner one then put another thicker one over it and clamped it with a standard hose clamp. Just using one, not good. It would look like a balloon ready to pop and eventually it did. Lucky for me i kept several spare ones with me so it was a quick fix. Double up on em but seriously, if you can, get it welded closed

I know this is thread is a little old, but gotta say thanks guys!! The metal line rubbed a hole in itself somehow and it's leaking like crazy now... I totally spaced what this line was for and looking at the diagram I realized I had deleted the sandwich cooler ages ago and don't need this line anymore. Saved me from droppin the turbo and kicking myself!! Now to cap the ends and call it a happy day!!

Thanx again!!!
