I am no newbie with cars or dsm's so dont answer to this post with stupid responses, i know what i'm doing. I have a TSi (unfortunately fwd), and I'm looking for a turbo upgrade. I was contemplating an EvoIII or T28, but thought that something a little slower spooling would be more beneficial for my wrong-wheel-drive car instead of buying a fast spooling turbo and just spinning tires forever. My goals are around 300whp but not much more as that I want to keep my internals stock. Mods not installed include: fmic (25x8x2.5"), 550's/190 pump also not installed, and SAFC2. Installed: 2.5" turbo-back and ported exhaust mani, 1g bov, injen intake. Any ideas on what turbo would be best for my goals? I could run a bigger turbo under lower boost, or would I just be better off running the evo3/t28 on normal higher boost??

You have the supporing mods to get a 20G, although that doesnt really spool slower then a 16G, not that much anyway, but a 20G will take you into the 400 HP range, that motor wont have any problem handling 400 horsepower. :thumb:

I definitely agree with the last post. I went with the 300 hp goal at first with the Big28. Didn't last a year and I upgraded with the T04b V-trim. Since the internals can handle up to 400 hp, you might as well utilize everything the car can handle...cause trust me...you won't be satisfied with 300 hp after too long...

Go with any turbo that spools to 20 psi by 4000 rpm and that flows 40-50 lbs/min and with all the supporting mods, you should be a happy camper...

Good luck to you!

If I were you, I would just get the BIG T-28 turbo. You are probably running a 7 bolt so I think thats your best option between the T-28 V.S Big 16g or Evo3 whatever you want. They both can make over 300 WHP, they both spool around the same, just the Evo3 or Big 16g you need to modify a few things before you can get it on where the T-28 you just rip your T-25 out and put the T-28 in and boom your done, no modifying nothing direct drop in. Supporting mods that are recommended are 550cc injectors/Walbro 190 or 255 /w AFPR, S-AFC, ACT2100 or CF1 or 2. With that setup you can run 20 psi on pump gas with proper tuning. With proper tuning you could make easy over 300WHP and possbily high 11's to low 12's or high 12's to low 13's if you can't hook up :p LOL.

I'd get the 16G. Orelse a 18G or 20G. A T28 will hit ti hard and the lines are a bi*** to reuse if your not careful. I tried to save min while installing the 16G and I had to cut the line in half by the oil feed from the filter housing.

What is the install like on the 20g, and how much boost would i be able to run with 550cc injectors? I can easily get a 255 pump if the 190 is too small, but i would like to stay with the 550cc injectors. I think i remember that for most 20g turbo's you need a separate manifold to get it to bolt up, but any experience related info would be great, thanks... and thanks for your opinion guys, such a tough decision!
