which would be better for a stock 2g gst a turbo bac or cat bac exhaust. the car is only stock now :thumbdown but im planning on doin some MAJOR :thumb: engine work 2 it reel soon. and what brand would you recommend?

It's up to you:
5Zigen
AHP
Apex'i
ATR
Borla
Buschur Racing
Diamond Star Specialties
Extreme Technologies
GReddy
HKS
Pacesetter
RNR
Tanabe
Thermal R&D
Victory Performance

That list is via the parts catalog under catback.

RnR has a ton of options I would check them out although I have no first hand experience with them: http://www.rnrracing.com

Slowboyracing.com <<Offers a couple different types of exhausts

RoadRaceEngineering.com <<Offers exhausts

As well as many others.

A custom setup is usually the cheapest for example my turbo back cost me about $300 (megan 3" straight through muffler, 10 feet aluminized pipe, 3 90* bends, and Punishment racing o2 housing (with external dump)...keep in mind I have a 90' talon, but you get the point.

Check out what the parts list has: http://www.dsmtuners.com/parts/default.php?cPath=3_142

Read this article by RRE before you decide on buying anything:

Do searches through the forum seeing what people who have different setups think of them. There is not a "best", some are better than other as far as performance, but there is a point where you have to ask yourself if you want loud, quiet, stainless, angle tip, straight tip, etc.

Good luck, take your time, and make a good well researched decision.

LOL looks like we have a winner!! plus i was doing some research, heard sum audio clips (sounds sexyyy  ), and low price :thumb: !!

Try this site. my boy got his full 3in turbo back from these guys. The bends are tight, and they ship fast as well. I agree with the guy that said make your own exhaust, but if i had to get a store bought system, i would go with THERMAL or APEX-I :talon:

ATR 3in cat back, by far the best, one of if not the highest flowing exhaust for dsm's, and it is a bit loud with a growl and turbo whistle. Its cheaper then the apexi and hks systems, its stainless. It is custom and takes about 2 weeks to get to your door. Best exhaust Ive used.
Andrew

I got the Buschur 2.5" stainless system and it is great, great fit. I used a muffler I had but will be looking for something quieter, perhaps a Borla or Flowmaster. Mark

werd:thumb: love the sound of my ATR

i got an apex'i turbo back and its quite nice. it is loud though, but it sounds really good and there is no raspy noise.

o word? where did u guys get the atr exhaust from?

I bought mine from www.dsmparts.com about 2 months ago, they were on sale I paid 500 shipped to my door, when compared to apexi($520) and hks($780) thermal at $574. $494 doesnt seem bad. Especially since it flows more then the other systems and is all custom made SS mandrel bent 3in. I just checked thier site and it is still for sale at $494.
Andrew

when u buy, lets say a atr turbo back system, what parts come with it? i mean are any parts replaced with the system( high flow cat, downpipe, catback.....) anything? or is it all piping?

If you buy a atr turbo back you get the 3in o2 housing, 3 downpipe, 3in catback. You can swap in a 3in catco high flow if you choose but you dont have to since you will be sent all the nesseary piping.

u sure it comes with all that 4 $500? on the site it doesnt mention any of that comming with the kit and it ecen says "Works well with the ATR Downpipes" basically implying that it comes SEPARATE. take a look: http://www.dsmparts.com/customer/product.php?productid=90&cat=91&page=1

no down pipe, o2 housing, or catback mentioned. :(

no $494 ios for the cat back, as this thread was about cat backs. If you read my post it says all the prices and the ATR being the cheapest.
Andrew

rnr racing has 3" mandrel bent TURBO back systems with muffler for $499. Check it out!
