Turbo Cams in a N/T

It IS possible to replace the cams without completely removing the timing belt, but it is a pain in the a$$. From what I recall, if you zip-tie the timing belt to both cam sprokets (use three or four each cam), then remove the valve cover, and timing belt cover, put an open wrench on the first cam to hold it in place, remove the cam nut, remove the cam girdles, and have a buddy keep even pressure on the cam and belt that you just removed, you can get the cam out without removing the belt. Put the new cam in, torque everything back up, and do the same thing to the second cam. Please keep in mind that I haven't done this myself, but have seen it done.

Pretty much. I know that my desription is NOT 100%, as it's been a while since I've seen it done, but I believe that someone here has also done this kind of cam swap. If you search for cam swap, you should find it.

obviously you have'nt done this job, because it not as easy as "turning a couple of wrenches".

OK Forgot drilling the oil lines, it is EASIER then one would immagine, If you had all the parts that is. Granted one would have to understand what they were doing and be able to take the bumper off, remove the oil and collant, and stuff like that but hey that is not so hard. 9PSI should be FINE with proper cooling, tuning, and fuel, if not 6PSI until that.

Bolt on the Manifold with the turbo, make sure the oil lines and collant lines reach and work, IC pipes, you would need a turbo Down Pipe, wedge in a SMIC some how or just start with a FMIC if your gungho.

The car will cross over easier then many other cars, there is ROOM and design for a turbo, like it was ment to be there.

I have a 1997 eclipse N/T. I bought some turbo cams from a 1992 eclipse. Can I switch them out?? The guy I bought them from said I could. How about cam gears? I am going to buy some after market ones. I am thinking about going with bomz. Should I buy the gears for a 1992 turbo cam or for my engine (1997 eclipse)
Please help!!

4G63 cams should not fit in a 420A motor. You have a 2G N/T, which uses the 420A. The 1992 eclipse N/T and turbo are 4G63. Aside from the fact that the motors are completely 180 degrees out of phase, and spin in reverese, and one's a Chryco block and one's a Mitsu, they just won't fit. I would get cams that are specifically designed for your motor, and you should be all set.

That sucks the ebay guy lied to me!! How about aftermarket cam gears. Have you heard of Bomz before. Should I try to install the cams anyway and see if they will work just in case or should I just give up on the idea?
