My friend has a 1992 Eclipse 5spd and I heard that the exhaust cams are the same as the turbo's but that the intake cams are different. Would it be worth it to put a 5spd turbo intake cam in the car? I heard that it makes pretty good gains and I know that the special K version Talons had nothing but bigger injectors and a turbo intake came and made a good bit more power.

yea ur suppose to get an increase but im not really sure how much, maybe 5-7 hp at most, i think its a good cheap upgrade for a n/t, i think its worth it, good luck! :dsm:

cheap? you have to remove the timing belt to install them right? now if you cant do that yourself it aint cheap.

thats the way i would go, it wouldnt be cheap if you had a shop doing the work, but im talkin about the cam itself being cheap, compared to aftermarket cams...:D

I have the turbo cams in my n/t because I am in the process of a turbo swap. I drive the car with the turbo cams and fuel pump in and I notice a very good high rpm gain in horsepower. Also gut the cat and you'll notice a big difference.

Did you mean "remove" the catalysator? :dsm:

4G63 is yours a manual or an auto? Also what fuel pump did you install?

I have a manual, and yes I meant gut the catalytic converter, you could remove it and put a test pipe there, but gutting it is cheaper and just as effective, also I get out of tickets that way. It's illegal not to have one.

Probably not. You're better off with a nice, smooth test pipe.

So is gutting one, but we'll not let ethics get in the mix.

you obviously understood what I was trying to say, I gut the cat so they can't say you don't have a cat when you get inspected, why the strong impulse to argue?

When my car was n/t I had the turbo cam's in it. Also a Test Pipe is alot better than gutting the catylic converter. Plus it's alot more easier. Since when you gut one you have to use force and strengh to break out all the inside shit. Buy a straight pipe from Auto Zone or have a muffler shop custom make you a pipe and just replace and weld it in. Thats simple. I did my full exhaust of 2 1/2" piping with test pipe and straight pipe no muffler in my Auto Tech class.

Black do you felt like you got worthwhile results from installing the turbo cams? Also what other mods did you have and what do you felt gave you the best results?
