Turbo Boost seems weak and boosting low?

Hey guys just wondering what could cause low boost its seems like i have to really step on it to get any turbo performance but the car is in mint shape recently i put new tranny in so im just wondering could some vacum line of been unhooked which is causing it to boost low. I also Installed an aftermarket boost guage and it seems the highest im hitting on the 14b is like 9psi which is weak. It felt much stronger in the summer easily 11psi or so. Should i just install a boost controller and up the boost to solve the problem? thanks.

sounds like a possible boost leak, there could be leak(s) anywhere, intercooler pipes, crusty hoses, seals. Search the forums for "boost leak tester" and go from there.

Sounds very much like you obtained a boost leak when you installed the trans. Very easy to do, especially since some of those hoses are probably dry and cracked. I'd start by going over all the vacuum lines and check any other plumbing you may have touched during the trans install.

A buddy of mine had that happen after a motor swap. We ended up replacing all of the vacuum lines just to be safe, but this always works a little bit better, and it's always nice to have on hand : http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=201554

Check to make sure you have the vacuum lines hooked up correctly, also another you may want to check would be the cat, Will cause slow and weak spool.

Yep, do a boost leak test. Pretty cheap to make the tester, and very valuable to have.
