Hey guys, i searched my butt off for this answer but have come up dry. What type of bolts would you use with a small 16g and a tubular manifold, the stock ones are WAY to long. Any help would be appreciative.

Chris

Not sure what you have around your way but there is a crazy place up here called Tractor supply company. You can get high grade bolts and all the sizes you need!

I know that the O2 Housing bolts are perfect length and width for a tubular Mani. Take one from your O2 and try it out. Then head to Mitsu and get 4 bolts and 4 nuts (the same nuts from the O2 Housing stud).

Hope everything works out for you.

grade 8 or higher bolts would be best. Also use copper anti-seeze when you install them.

Grade 8 isnt the proper terminology for metric bolts, just so you know.

But like others have said, go to the hardware store and get the same thread bolts only shorter. Much cheaper than the dealer and just as good.

thanks for the help guys, Im gonna try the o2 housing bolts to see if that works out allright! Of course this is after i was planning on running a 2g manifold and spent 45 bucks on turbo bolts from slowboy!

I would just go to Lowes or Home Depot if it were me. They have all sizes and out here all the bolts are 8.8. That's what I did, it'll cost you under $10, probably less that $5. Depends on if yuo get too long or short of bolts.

FYI 8.8 metric bolts are not close to grade 8 SAE bolts in strength. In metric terms its more like 12.x if I recall correctly. Just wanted to let you know that. They are also semi hard to find in that hardness. I had to go with 10.x for my turbo bolts when I got them through Fastenall. Only $1/bolt which is very cheap. I've only had 2 ever sieze in a TH. But since then I've used liberal amounts of antisieze and never had one sieze again.

You might want to check to see if you have a Fastenall in your area. You can get pretty much any bolt you would need in bulk and cheap at that. Instead of paying $3 for like 2 bolts I get 100 for like $10. I have so many metric bolts now. Just bring in one of your O2 housing bolts to get the length and threed size and pitch.

Guys thanks for all the advice. Im gonna try a couple different things and whichever works best, will be the one I keep.

Chris

Always lay the antiseize on thick when using cheap bolts. Just had to deal with an o2 housing bolt stripping out in a turbine housing- cheap ACE crap, no antiseize, 3 months and it was gone. What a pain in the ass with a tubular o2 eliminator.

yeah sorry its like 10.8 is pretty equal to grade 8 right? I know that the best is like 12.x or something like that. Sorry for the mis info.
