turbo back exhaust NON mandrel ebtn, $200 plus muffler

so i am in need of an exhaust and my rfiend knows a guy. He said he could make me a turbo back exhaust that Is -NOT- mandrel bent for $200 plus the cost of any muffler i want. What i need to know is it worth it? how much less powere will i have due to the bends? and how will it sound?


EDIT: Its also going to be 3''. And i apologize for misspelling "bent" in the tile.
 
A good rule of thumb is to consider press bent to be one size smaller than it is when comparing to mandrel bent, so this 3" would be like running a 2.5" which is as large as most people whose cars never see the track ever need and enough even for some peoples cars that do.
 
You might also consider the SSAutochrome/XSPower "G-Power" 3" turboback. It has a fartcan muffler, but it also has two resonators. The DP is 2.5 to the end of the flex section. $300 shipped. I then cut off the fartcan and put on a Magnaflow and custom tips, but you can cut the fartcan off and weld whatever onto it. The exhaust is for 2g AWD...I'm not even sure if they have a FWD version. It's 100% stainless (no rust), mandrel bent and polished.

After all was said and done, it cost me $100 for the muffler, $100 for the tips, and $75 for the TIG welding. I did all of the cutting/grinding myself. There was also the cost of the hand grinder, flapwheel disk and cutoff disk, but maybe you have one already. So it easily cost $350 to swap the muffler/tips. But you could save some cash if you went cheaper/simpler. Like if you just kept the fartcan, it'd be $300.
 
The 2G GSX exhaust doesn thave that many bends in it any ways... The only major bend is the Down pipe between the o2 housing flange and flex area.
 
Is this aluminized steel or stainless? Aluminized can/will rust.

Also, unless he's throwing in resonators and a high-flow cat, it's going to be MUCH louder than stock.

Mandrel-bent 3" SS costs more than $30/bend. But he could take a 90° and cut it to two 45s or three 30s, etc. Aluminized mandrel bends are in the $20-$30 range.
 
so i checked out the ssautochrome, and it loks good. i found this one, DSM 95-99 Talon TSI Eclipse GSX AWD 3" Super Exhaust it seem ok, all mandrel bent, stainless steel, why doest everyone just use this? haha but how does it sound compared to others? any one have a clip of it??

That's the one. Check total cost including shipping...straight from them it was $345 last I checked. The eBay one from seller juicyjems was $300 shipped (that's where I got mine).

If you decide to go with this one, I put a bit of a tech article together for install. You will need to modify the DP inlet flange bolt holes to fit the stock O2 housing studs and you have to flip one of the stock hangers (remove two nuts, flip bracket, replace nuts). And you have to buy a nut :p. Fitment was perfect other than the DP flange.
 
so im pretty sure im going with the ssautochrom turbo back.But im going to get a titanium injen muffler w/ torched tip....so sexy. but anybody know how this exhaust sounds? and why is it so cheap?

how was shipping for it? quick? did it take really long?
 
well the final total for the exhaust would be $242.99 thats with fed-ex ground. Where did you get $345 from??? Anyway i am going with this exhaust, unless someone tells me something that will change my mind.

......also people who are running or have ran it, how is ther performance? sound? drone?
 
wow rob thanks for that link for the ss turbo back, i was going to buy from ssautochrome site, but it expensive there. Right here on that site u posted i buy for 240 including shipping! Thanks again. Hopefully that site is legit LOL
