Hi Guys!

Sorry for asking "How To" again. But I just cant get it. Ok! rite to it. Before I blew my engine back in Oct. my car was tuned & running fine. Now with my rebuilt engine and same set-up my car is not running the way it use to. Is it just because it's a rebuilt engine and I just need to break it in. Or is it serious and I need to tune it again? I cant afford to take it anywhere! spent everything I had getting my car fixed.

So here's my set-up:

550's injectors
16g turbo
AEM fuel rail & FPR
SAFC 2
Wally 255 pump
AEM Wideband

Everything else is stock!

Here's the reading from my SAFC2 & Wideband.

TH: - 30%- 80%

HI:
1000 rpm -18%
2000 rpm -27%
2600 rpm -28%
3200 rpm -28%
4200 rpm -22%
4800 rpm -23%
5400 rpm -22%
6000 rpm -22%
6600 rpm -22%
7000 rpm -22%
7600 rpm -22%
8000 rpm -22%

LO:
1000 rpm -7%
2000 rpm -27%
2600 rpm -27%
3200 rpm -30%
4200 rpm -29%
4800 rpm -17%
5400 rpm -15%
6000 rpm -15%
6600 rpm -15%
7000 rpm -15%
7600 rpm -15%
8000 rpm -15%

KNK:
275 - 800 rpm
155 - 1300 rpm
89 - 3550 rpm

Wideband @ Idle:
13.5 - 14.3

DEC - AIR:
THR - 0.5
NE1 - 10.0
NE2 - 10.0

This is what my SAFC2 is reading at idle:
COR -7%, REV 790, KNK 41-43

When I drive it sometimes my Wideband is showing in the 10's - 11's. And the KNK is at high 50's to 60's. this is going from 40 mph to 50 mph. other times it's showing 16's on the Wideband.

So please help me out to fix this problem. If anyone here in Houston close to Humble and willing to help please PM me.

Sorry, again guy's I hate to be a bother. But, I got no money to take it anywhere and I need my car running rite by Friday.

Thanks Again!
Mark

Sounds like either your getting knock, or your sensor is picking up a bad vibration. Can you physically hear anything odd? What is happening is that your knock count is soo high its retarding the timing and just making it run like a ####y. Also double check to see if your base timing is at 5 deg.

Yes it does sound odd.... Its a bit loud.. The guy at the shop said it's because my engine needs to settle ### its been rebuilt.. He told me just to drive it alot but, I'm not gonna drive it if it dosent feel right... Oh and where would I find that base timing?

Thanks alot, redeyebandit...

As far as I know the Knock Sensor with the SAFC reads knock all wrong and for all you know it could just be Phantom knock cause I goit knock with my SAFC but when I changed over to EvoScan had no knock at all!

Did you check for vaccum leaks, boost leaks, timing set correctly?

Try changing the hi throttle setting to 70% and the Dec air doesnt do anything on a DSM or it didnt on mine and other peoples..... Im having a hard time trying to figure out why your only pulling 7% at idle show me something is a miss there... and then you jump to high 20's%

Go over the car and doo all the basic check and then make sure that there is no metal to metal that could be phantom knock(ex: J-pipe hitting motor mount or something that would vibrate and cause it to show knock)

Here was my setting showing 10.5-10.7 AFR(rich I know but was running it SAFE) and it was a 14b on Evo 560's with throttle points at 30 and 70 and my fuel trims were fairly close(0-3% in all rpms ranges)

Thanks Buddy! I'm checking it right now. where do I look for my Base Timing? Redeyebandit was saying to see if it's at 5 deg. sorry I have no clue what to do. I'm just making the best of what I know. Which isn't much. LOL! Thanks again! Ppayer38.

5 deg base tming on the crank pully youll see a littl notch on it or if you have a Scanner/Logger you can check it through that...

Just double check everything before anything on that rebuilt motor is destroyed!
-Base timing on crank pully
-Timing marks line up on cam gears(Should be able to take a straight edge and run it across gears and hit all the marks)
-Boost leaks(TB, BOV, Couplers, Injectors, VC, Manifolds, Turbo)
-Vaccum leaks(Everywhere!!!!!)
Really soapy water and Carb cleaner will find leaks if you cant just dont catch anything on fire! haha

Thanks buddy you've been a huge help... I found one boost leak they forgot to hook up the hose to the boost gauge under the dash... Looking for anymore now!
