I've been running data logs and tuning with my SAFC several times in the last couple weeks. I started really lean, and have been working my way to the rich side. My problem is this is about the best timing curve I've gotten (actually it's went down a degree or 2 in a couple places since richening it up from my last log).

Any suggestions on where to go from here? Already checked for boost leaks and put in new plugs.

You're supposed to start rich and then go lean from there. Is this a slow acceleration or are you mashing the gas? The LTFT stops responding as soon as the car goes into open loop after 4500RPMs. The 7 degrees of timing you're getting is really low, so lean things out a bit and see if it goes up. If it goes down, it's because you're getting knock, but with yout O2s that high you shouldn't be (I know narrowband O2 isn't the end-all, or even a reliable tuning tool), but if your timing starts going up as you go leaner, you know you're moving in the right direction. At least until it starts moving down again. Next time don't log LFTF and you'll save some frames. It looks like the logger is kinda sluggish.

I started out at the suggested points on RRE, which were pretty lean. (O2 said about .90). As I got richer, timing started getting better, as in higher and a smooth curve. Now it looks like it's going back down.

I think I'm going ot add just 1% across the band, except I'll take away 1 at 6k and 7k, as it seems the timing falls down there and it looks rich. I'll post back after I can log it again with the new settings. Thanks for the responses. :)

I was previously tuning when it was like 55. I was giong to run a data log today, but it's dropped to like 35 degrees outside. I don't want to get different readings than before just because of the temperature, then have to retune in a week when it gets warm again, so will the lower temp effect my log a lot?

The snow is finally gone, so I got a chance to run another log today. To compare to my last log ^up there, I richined 1% 3k, 4k, 5k, and 5.5k on my SAFC, and leaned it out 1% on 6k and 7k. Heres the log.

With that last log above, the High-settings were:
1k/-17.....2k/-14.....3k/-12.....4k/-13.....5k/-10.....5.5k/-9.....6k/-9.....7k/-8

Should'nt it be...

1k
2k
3k
4k
4.5k
5k
6k
7k

your timming is'nt that bad. IS this Pump fuel you are using? What kind of boost r u running?

I just tuned mine off of RRE's, and there's was 5.5. I don't think it really matters. This is with 93 octane and 19psi. I realize it isnt too bad, as I have a decent curve, it's just the fact that it's dropping all the way down to 5 or 6 then slowly climbing to like 14.

You should add 1 or 2% of fuel where your timing drops and see if that makes a difference. But remember right when you build boost your timing will get pulled and then start climing from there depending on your tune. This cannot be avoided. Pay attention to where your car pulls the hardest for Example: (What Rpm's pull the hardest and look at the timing and EGT's. At the top of 3rd Wot from 2000rpm All the way to the top (redline). Your egt's should be around 1580-1600. Anything higher is not safe for your engine. I normally hit about 1550-1570 on a Cool day 70 Cali weather. Try that and let me now how that works.

I already have been adding, and the o2 voltage went up to .96 and timing got messed up even worse. I don't have an egt gauge, so I can't tune with that. I guess I'll try leaning in out in some spots and see where the timing is when the o2's are close to .92 then go from there.

Another thing that might help is to try to get more data points out of your logger. How many samples/second are you getting?

Try This:

Log ONLY rpm, o2 & timing

Make a WOT 3rd gear pull from 2500 to redline and post that log

Be careful, you need some road to do this ;)

On my last log right up there ^ I logged RPM, O2, and Timing, and it was was from 2400 to 6400, so I already covered that pretty much. I leaned a couple places out and I'm going to run another log tomorrow. I'll post that one up.

The reason I suggested that is because you only have 11 data points......I normally end up with about 60.

Yeah, I'm using a Palm M100 so that might have something to do with it. I'll have another log up in a couple hours once I get off. It was warm yesterday so I had my sun roof open, and I noticed that when I start hitting boost white smoke comes out of my exaust. Does this usually mean lean, rich, or anything?

Here's the new log

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like you need to turn the boost down or add more fuel. YOu look really lean from 4k and on.

when I tune, I would set my Fuel trims first and then drive it for a couple of days. And when they stay the same, meaning they are stable, go for a 3rd gear pull and then start taking away fuel. YOu timming should be nice and smooth.

I need some help setting my fuel trims. On my Pocketlogger, I logged it at idle for STFT and LTFT. The LTFT stayed at 0 the whole time, and the STFT flucuated from -2.0 up to 1.0 I could post the log if that would help, but that's pretty much all that happened.
