Tune?

Is it hard or expensive to obtain a tune for a 6 bolt?..........

Just looking at an Ebay auction and the car needs a tune..............

Are you looking for just a chip? Keydiver sells a good chip.

Tuning packages start at the piggyback AFC, then you can step up to tunerpro, jackal, or ecmlink. After that is a full stand alone. AFC is all you would realistically need if you never go past the stock turbo, or a 16g that isn't going to be pushed to the limit and they work well with a keydiver chip. Tunerpro, jackal, and ecmlink are all very capable, so a stand alone isn't really required for anything but a wild setup, but they are nice.

You should learn more about each and know some about what you want from the car before rushing out to procure a tune. It will be less expensive to buy some of the nicer systems once if you have bigger goals.

See thats the thing. I really don't have any "goals"........... Mayeb more of a drag setup, but I need to be able to take corners............ being the roads we have around here.

I just want to have one of the faster cars around town..............

I'm not really that informed on these cars. That is why I would rather get the car and work on it and learn then to just research somthing I may know in my head but not know what to do with an actual thing.

By "tune" the guy probably meant new plugs, wires, belts, and the usual things to tune up your car every so many miles. Not the car needs "tuned" as in he has more then a stock car and the a/f is bad for example...

"Tune up" is typically what plugs wires and belts typically refer to. But you are 100% right, that is probably what they meant by that. If you haven't done that, then get that done. Update your mod list, it will be easier to tell you where to go from there.

A "tune" is changing the engine's fueling and spark characteristics to have it make more power, run more efficiently, and a good tune will make your car nicer to drive.

It could easily be either of those. I've seen cars on craigslist with 2g mass air sensors running 550 injectors say "it needs a tune, but runs good as is."

After 6 DSM's let me tell you what "tune" means. It means they have dumped money into this car and it won't run right at all. They can't figure it out, so they sell it and put "all it needs is a tune." Run.....
