Hey guys i just bought a97 GSX and it was a one time owner by an older lady it has 123 miles on it and its an auto it seem a little slughs i had a 95 gst 5 spd and it would blow this thing away stock vs stock and the 95 i had was a one time own also with 146k on it what do i need to tune up and every thing. Also was wondering if i should replace the timing belt or if there is a way to find out if it has been replaced latly?

go through all the maintenance crap first....fuel filter, spark plugs, air filter, blah blah blah and see if that helps...ask the lady you bought it from if she has service records...if not, its probably a good idead to replace the timing belt for peace of mind

well i work at a dealer and she traded it in to one of our other dealers we work with. so i did not get a chance to talk to her. How much will Plugs and Wires help?

its always a good idea to change that stuff when you buy a car...as well as all the fluids and shit cuz then you know its been changed, and know what to change it all again...if the plugs are bad new ones will help A LOT...same with the fuel and air filter

Whats r some good plugs and wires for our cars. sorry guys to ask this stuff never worked on it alot as in that i mean turbo 4cyl. , i run my 95 cobra for drag got to love being able to run mid 12s with just bolt on's. But this gsx is fun other then the auto thing i am still wondering about. Orderd full intake, 1g switch over for bov, and boost/airfuel/oil presure Guages. next thinking about 3 in down pipe? but if i need to do plugs and wires first then i will.

you can run 12's in your gsx with bolt ons too for plugs, get NGK bpr6es. wires its your choce...you can stay fairly cheap and get by with accel or ngk and they will do fine

the ngk are recommended...you can go with the brp7es if you plan to run alot of boost.... you can get nology wires if you dont mind paying for them...i think they are like $180 for a set of 4 but rumor has it, they are bad ass

sweet i orderd that 1g bov with a tube i am hoping that will help some so i dont leak boost

good choice, an upper intercooler pipe with a 1g bov will make a big difference. Just get the recommended stock plugs and some "regular" plug wires at your local auto shop and ull be fine with that. After that u might want to get a datalogger to see if your o2 sensors are working properly. After that, id say a boost gauge and a boost controller and a turbo back exhaust. If u want some extra kick for fairly cheap, get a 14b which is the stock manual trans turbo for the 90-94 cars. A quick way to see how old the timing belt is, take the cover off and see what shape the belt is in and also how visible the lettering on it is.

Thanks for the help so far guys i am impressed with how nice everyone is and everything it rules.... I am lovign the car other then i lost last sat. to a 97 grandprix gtp witch is supercharged he had a 3.4in' pully and some other stuff done and my cobra i just got done with some headers so it was on the rack but i got it fixed last night going after him sat. wish the dsm would be fast anuf to take him but i had him till 55 then he just blew by me like nothing i was kind of wondering why it just feals like it is boosting but loosing it at high rpms hmmm?

will a 14 b just directly bolt up to the manafold or will i need too switch that out 2?
