Ok I tried searching the forum but since I dont know exactly what its called I cant find it. My friend has a ball bearing or something in his turbo and it makes it spool real nice. An in another thread I saw the oil cooled turbos. Are these different kinds of turbos> does the bearing one not use oil? An can some one point me in the direction for information on this?

There all cooled in some way. Oil and water cooled ball bearing and non ball bearing turbos.

They both use oil except the BB doesn't need as much. Do a search on Ball bearings and another on journal

most of my posts were spent trying to diagnose my engine not my turbo. my turbo fine my engine aint. and no one on this site knew what it was...

So your telling me my Big 16g is ballbearing? I have coolant lines to the turbo.

Seriously, how do you have 230+ posts and not have knowledge about turbos? That statement is misinformation at its worst............The truth of the matter is that 99% of turbos used in a stock application that are oil AND water cooled are journal bearing.
