im thinking about buying a 95 eagle talon TSi AWD a few houses down, its burgundy, has 112,000 miles, theres a small rust spot on the hood that has been grinded, bondo'd. and fixed, its about the size of 1/2 a dollar bill, then one of the lower fog lights is cracked but still works, and it needs a new rear window wiper, the interior looks GREAT, its almost spotless, very very litte wear, its obviously the 5 spd manual, i dont know if they offered an auto on the awd models... not sure.. anyways it 4,900, im gonna offer him 4,500 becuase im stubborn and refuse to ever pay asking price if i can get it lower, but anyways, you guys are they experts here, you tell me, is this a good deal or not?? ooo btw, i want to pursue an automotive career, not sure what field yet, but something in that area, and after college ill be attending wyotech for pretty much all of its classes, and i wanted to have a car that i can add to, and customize and stuff, and i think that ill have this car for at least 4 yrs, i think, but yea, so also do u think this is a good car for me....

Being the owner of a 95 TSi AWD talon myself I can give a few things to check / concider.

Im from a northern Climate where they use road salt and my car was winter driven not sure if thats at all a concern for yourself. My car looked great till it was on the hoist and WHOA rust bucket I spent about a month fixing the underside of my car rust proofing it.

Next for mine was the motor did crank walk this was confirmed not my guess that it did.

Brakes are another thing have a good look at them for wear and pads rotors etc...

My car was bone stock when I got it which was nice so have a look at any previous mods etc and make sure its done right and all.

If possible pull the timing belt cover on the top of the motor and have a look at the belt and do a compresion test on engine as well.

Have a GOOD look under the car for oil leaks or any sign of a leak any damp wet spots that could be leaking the owner wiped or tried to cover up.

Also to give yah an idea.
1 1/2 years ago I bought a 95 talon for 5g's with 98k miles on it.
Interior was flawless and no signs of major use at all.

So yes, I would say that 4,500 would be nice to get it for but I myself would shoot for 4,300

cash talks.

If you show up with 4300-4500 in hand saying you will take the car, alot of the times they will lower the price and accept seeing as how the money is right there .

just make sure you want the car 100% before saying you will take it ;)

Check for rust too..i bought mine fairly cheap with a good interior, but it is one giant blob of rust on the under-body.

I would also ask about the Timing Belt, Waterpump, Do a compression Test, Check for signs of CrankWalk (you did drive it i hope?)

If all that is in check BUY IT! LOL!

i wil check for rust when go check it out again, i have driven it once for about 5 miles, not over 45 tho, i wanna take it out on the freeway and hit 90 to make sure it runs good at high speeds, (i usually go from 95-120 on the freeway) so its a necessity, im not quiet certain what you mean by crankwalk and how to check for it, also im not sure how to check the timing, do a compression test, or check the waterpump, LOL, i wana be a mechanic when im odler, but i havent had a chance yet to really learn about carsif you guys could explain these 4 things, and they check out, i will bring 4500, (show 4300 LOL) and tell him il ltake it now for 4300, then if needed, use the other 200... thanks guys

This is a compression Test
http://www.dsmgrrrl.com/FAQs/compression.htm

Just ask him when the last time the timing belt and waterpump were changed, (it would probally be a good idea to do this once you get the car, if it breaks you have to rebuild the head)

this is what crankwalk is

http://members.shaw.ca/costall/1000Q/answers-terms.htm#whatiscrankwalk

it also tells you how to change the timing belt on vfaq.com

Good Luck :thumb:
