Is there any differences between the two? Besides the looks both inside and out. All the websites say things for the GSX, but never the Tsi. Are they the same? Lets say 1996.

EXACT same car part for part minus the bumpers, tailights, and badging. They were made in the same plant and assembly lines. In fact everything on my TSI like engine components and suspension all have mitsu stickers and part numbers.

Right right. Just wanted to make sure. So... How about the rainbow wing on a 1996 Tsi? 1998 bumpers bolt up... So what about the wing?

1996 Eclipse GSX vs. 1996 Ealge Talon TSI AWD

For the most part the differences are things you would see while walking around one or the other.

The Eclipse has a :dsm: , where the Talon has a :talon: , the eclipse has always had different tail lights so NO SURPRISE.

The headlights on Eagle Talon 2G's always stayed the same 95'-98' because DSM officially ended in 1998, ceasing production on late 1997 Eagle's. 1997 was when Eclipse's got the 2Gb front facia with revised headlights. DSM already knew production was ending on the Eagle branch and told the assembly line to continue to use 95-96 headlights and facia on the Talon in 97 and 98.

The Driver Air Bag cover differs on the different makes, but as with all DSMs, the layout of everything is consistent just badged differently.

You shouldn't be surprised, many vehicles that have anything to do with Chrysler :laser:
have had twins throughout the years.

Dodge Demon, Plymouth Duster
Dodge Coronet, Dodge Super Bee
Plymouth Road Runner, Plymouth Belvedere, and Plymouth GTX
Dodge Daytona, Plymouth Laser

Eagle Talons are as much DSMs as Eclipse GSXs no doubt.

I think of it as Trim Level Marketing at its best.

Eclipse GSX = Loaded, leather, sunroof, :dsm: emblems.
Talon TSI AWD = guy hot rod, cloth, gawdy TSI AWD badging, :talon: emblems.

No offence to anyone...I love ALL DSMs.

There are only few subtle differences between all the years.

Good luck.

here's some FYI:

Since the introduction of the Eclipse,Talon, Laser....the Eclipse was marketed to Women aging from 26-44 yrs old, Talons were marketed to Males 25-36 and Lasers were never really marketed much at all, sorta a cheaper alternative to one of the forementioned.

Another few differences: Talons are much cheaper on the market, and there are bizarre little things such as many of the CARB-Certified Eclipse parts are not certified for the Talons. Yeah, beareaucratic brains. Also, Eclipses got powered radio antennas, "diversity FM" antennas (a second wire-on-glass antenna on the rear hatch), and have the DIN cable for the rear CD changer pre-installed (although the Talons do have the power connections on the wiring harness).

Oh, and of course the Talons are remarkably better-looking. :D

I would have to agree. :D

Can the rainbow wing be put on the talon? Im sure it will with some modification, but how much?

i got a 98 tsi awd and it has leather and sunroof and all dat good stuff minus the power antenna and cd changer and the garage opener.
So lets say i need an outside part such as front bumper and i want it from a dealer, would chrysler carry dat still or junkyards are the only place?

ok...I bet fewer GSX's with cloth than TSI AWD's.

Answer that.

i have only seen 1 GSX with leather and that was one i test drove at a dealership 3 years ago. Dont think i have seen a TSi AWD with leather but I know they exist. heck my 1G TSI AWD does not have leather.

Also, the 97-98 talon front bumpers are different than the 95-96 talon front bumpers, but still use the same headllights. Also the 95-96 eclipse and talons front bumpers are the same except that the eclipse has the thing in the middle of it, like a plastic grille somewhat. one piece going lateral with a few vertical ones. not sure what you would call it but talons bumpers dont have it.

90-94 Turbo Eclipse's (all) came from the factory with what I call Turbo Fan wheels, with bigger center caps.
95-96 Turbo Eclipse's (all) came from the factory with Eclipse Swirly rims.
97-99 Turbo Eclipse wheels came in many fashions, Powder coated aluminum 16" 5 Spokes (GS-T), Chrome 16" Five spokes (GS-T optional, std on 97-99 Spyder) and finally 10 spoke Aluminum/steel 2 piece 17" Enkie wheels on the GSX that ONLY came Powder coated aluminum color (peps been known to paint to match their exterior)

Eagle Talons never came with a factory 17" rim in their whole existence.

Good conversion IMO.

The 97-98 Talon TSi models come with 17'' rims on them. They look almost the same as the 95-96 rims, but they are 17''

Cloth and Leather is a option based on the car you picked up. the turbocharged models can have either or.

My 95 Talon Tsi AWD has Leather interior, another friend has cloth, and a 3rd has cloth in his GSX.

Well according to my friends auto teacher,

You should buy an eclipse instead of a talon because chrysler makes weak trannies.

I guess i should of paid 2 grand more for my car to get this "stronger tranny".

I just picked up my Tsi AWD yesterday. :thumb: :talon:
and it has leather. :)

GSX and TSI AWD were both up near $30,000 so they better have leather.

You could research all day finding all the little differences between the cars. They are a little different in
Interior - steering wheel, options mentioned...
Exterior - wheels, bumpers, spoilers, doors, tail lights...

What it means to you might be what you need to ask. Sometimes Talons are cheaper to buy and/or insure. Consider the looks, if you want to explain "I own an Eagle, but it's the same as an Eclipse" every day for the rest of your life, asking for Mitsubishi parts.. etc

Have fun.
