I am going to be getting a set of MT 24.5x8.5-15" slicks for my car this year and needed to know what the wheel specs need to be for them to fit.
I know the bolt patter is 114.3(4.5")x5
I need to know smallest-largest offset.
The size of the center hole.
and if I will need spacers to fit them.
Also if it is possable to get a set of rim off of another car that would also help.
Weight is not that big of an issue for me right now I just more of need to know the wheel sizes and not so much of brands that will work.

Looking for at least 7" wide.

Thanks in advance

you should look into what john sheperd is running...
Volk 15x7 bronze TE-37 wheels
Mickey Thompson ET Drag tires
as far as spacers, etc. i couldnt tell you
or try wheelsweights.net to get reference on oem wheels

enkei rp-f1 15x7 10lbs each
Kyoho Tracer 15x7 10lbs each
starform real racing r2 15x7 10lbs
buddy club p1 racing qf 15x7 10lbs

there is plenty to choose from but not if all of these are 5x114.3

Drag DR-17s are only about $95/each online and are available in 15x7 5x114.3. They are 5Zigen FN01R-C knock offs. Drag's website shows them to weigh about 14lbs, which isn't too bad for the price.

I mated a set of M&H 235/60-15 (25.1") Racemaster DOT slicks to these wheels. The Racemasters work amazing and are still DOT legal, so you can use them in street classes. They are bias-ply, so no stiff sidewalls like drag radials and you don't need tubes inside either.

235/60 has a height of 26.1" just to clarify the above. That is what I figured OP would run since running a larger launching sidewall is what you'd gain by going down in rim size. Running at 24.5" with 15's seems pointless since it's in essence a 235/50.

Mickey Thompson would have the stickiest DOT in 235/60/15.

have you ever used the mt et street 235/60/15?

There is zero sidewall flex, there heavy as all hell, and they aren't really that 'great' of a tire. I don't like them at all.

24.5" slicks would be fine, light, lots of sidewall flex, and superior traction.. You just can't run in a DOT class.

The BEST option for a 26" tall 'street' tire is the Hoosier QTP's (quick time pro).

Just check out your gearing, figure out what you want to turn the engine to (2.3L vs 2.0L (stock vs. built)) etc.. and then see if a 24.5" tire will do it for you.

i ran the ET streets on a 15x7.5" enkei wheel.. they were about 13lbs each and I can't remember the offset exactly, but I believe it was +38, with zero rubbing.

The volks that john shepherd ran years ago are still VERY expensive and out of most of our budgets (2k+ easy). I actually ordered some 15x7.5" volk TE37's in mag blue from R&D motorsports and got screwed for $2200.. so back to plain jane cheap wheels for me.

Goodluck with your wheel/tire choice. Remember, rotation mass means a lot, and the et streets don't help there at ~27lbs each vs the QTP's at 18lbs each. The 24.5" slicks are even lighter!

Oh yes, the guy above you is talking about a M&H tire, they are not 26.1" tall like the ET streets even though they are still a 235/60/15. Its strange but there not, look up the spec's or contact M&H. There slighly smaller.

The et streets are also a radial vs a bias ply like the M&H and QTP.. I strongly do not suggest using the ET streets, they like to eat Tcases.

The M&H Racemaster 235/60-15 DOT Slicks I mentioned above are measured at 25.4" diameter according to the M&H website. They are also bias-ply, which means they have a very soft sidewall and they hook extremely well for a "DOT" slick. LucasEnglish was cutting 1.4 60' times in his old FP3065 1G that went 9.67@144mph with these slicks.

The Mickey Thompson ET Streets are still considered a radial, which means an incredibly stiff sidewall, just like any other street tire. Drag radials are pretty much pointless on AWD DSMs as they just do not flex enough to make any difference and more often than no will cause wheel hop... destroying drivetrain parts.

This looks like a great combination for anyone looking to save money.
I am probably going to run this combo. It is a fantastic, inexpensive setup.

On speed-elementmotorsports.com these wheels are $413.68 shipped, and the M&H slicks are $154.00 per tire, $676.00 shipped for all four. That's $1090.00 without mounting and balancing. Not bad at all.

Also, what color do you think would look best on a black car? I am thinking either bronze, gunmetal, or gold?

Sorry to jack the thread, I just had a pertinent question to the M&H slicks.

I am probably going to run this combo. This looks like a great, inexpensive setup. I am checking out M&H's website and the smallest diameter I see is 26". Where did you find the 25.1" ones? Thanks a lot.

Personally I love black on black. I'd go with a set of flat black DR-17s with the Racemasters for your car... Which is exactly what I did for my red 1G.

Thanks Sony. I found the slicks right after I posted that comment. I am trying to find pictures of those wheels mounted. Do you have any? I would like to see your setup. I checked your pics with no luck. I'm probably going to order the full black ones though. The polished lip looks a little bit tacky I think. I appreciate the help.

What 60' times do you think I will be able to pull with this combo and my setup? 1.6? Thanks again. :thumb:

Update: Ordered them! Full black!

Just an update. The full black ones are discontinued. The only color they have is black with the polished lip. I'm probably going to get those.

I just have one question though. Will all of these 15" wheels fit over the larger 2G calipers. Thanks guys.

I am running 225/45/ nitto nt-01s on some 15x8 2001 v6 mustang rims. The clearance between the 2g caliper and the rims is such that I can't use adhesive weights, there is about 1/8th" clearance.

Yes I have 2g calipers on my 1g. I clear 15s no issue.

Thanks for the help guys. I am looking forward to seeing the weight difference (tires included) from my current setup. I hope it is significant. I will post a picture once they are installed. :rocks:

Any update on the new wheels/tires combo? I'm about to install this same setup on my 1G AWD.

I have had some other obligations but I am going to order these tires soon. Have you got this setup rolling yet?

I know this thread is a bit old but what offset are you guys running to clear the bigger AWD calipers?

These are +40mm for the offset :thumb:

Yeah, installed my M&H last month along with the 5mm spacers. I tried them on without the spacers and they still fit but barely. I think they would rub slightly, especially if it is driven alot on the street.

I was having a hard time launching it. I slipped off the line at 5500rpm and bogged pretty bad. It still yield 1.7 flat sixty on a full interior 1G AWD. I need more seats time with these tires. Next time out, I will try 2-step at 6000-6500rpm and hope the drivetrain hold together.

Nice! What times were you running? I just ordered my M & H's today. I am switching out my clutch pedal assembly as well because my clutch is dragging at 6200 rpm. I will let you know how I do on these but it should be a few weeks at least. :D

Ran 11.1@127mph, 24-25psi with the clutch slipping. Clutch was not adjusted properly causing the disc to over heat and got glazed up. I installed a PTT and looking to make some passes before year end.

Did you enter the discount codes when order your slicks?

Wow! That is pretty sick even without a slipping clutch. Can you post the details of your run? What was your 60'?

It was 1.70x sixty bogged off the line, launched it at around 5500rpm (no studderbox was used), 7.2@103mph in the 8th. First time using this wheels/tires combo and I like it. No wheels hop, no spinning, just grabs and go. The car still has full interior, and no NLTS was used on this run.

Wow that is awesome. I can't wait to try these. My tires arrived yesterday and I will have them installed soon. What type of lug nuts will I have to buy to fit these wheels?

Have you weighed your car yet? How much power do you think you are putting down? Did you have any issues with clearcance at all? Thanks man! Oh yeah I did use the discount code for active military :thumb:

I bought Gorilla lug nuts from Extremepsi.
EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts - Gorilla "Small Diameter" Tuner Lug Nut Kit: Black (20-pack)

I also bought 5mm spacers and highly recommend running them. I tried it without spacers and it fits but very little clearance. I have not weigh my car yet. It has aluminum rear/front bumber support, no AC, no spare tires, no ABS and cruise control. Everything else still there.

Last year it made 412awhp/375awtq@28psi on FP3065 and trapped 127mph. New setup running of wastegates springs (23-24psi) made 451awhp/362awtq and trapped 127mph with slipping clutch. It also made 541awhp/440awtq @32psi a couple weeks ago on the same Dyno Dynamic dyno.
