My 1g does not want to start at all. This is the first start up. It has spark, fuel, compression. But it is not making a sound of wanting to start, no spuddering nothing just turning over. Anyone have this problem on first start up?

To answer your question. No I have not had this issue before. Now just throwing this out there to help. If fuel spark and compression checks out the next thing I would check is timing. One more thing too, not trying to make this more complicated but I want to help. By having fuel do you mean just fuel pressure or have it been verified that the injectors are actually firing fuel?

You could have a bad coolant temp sensor or a poor connection. Do you have anything to log this with? Have you had the CAS off recently? Is it 180 deg. off?

Thanks for yhe help to answer, yes the injectors are firing fuel the plugs are soaked.

It could be the coolant temp sensor. I will swap that out with another one. No i do not have any logging system. I also tried rotating the CAS 180, but no luck so i switched it 180 back.

Thank you!

I had this very same problem today on the very first start up with my new to me TSI that I bought none running. I verified that I had spark on all plugs and fuel getting to the fuel rail. The car would not start.
I thought maybe the ecu was not firing the injectors. I decided to give it a shot of starting fluid to see if it would run with that and it did. Then it started to run on it's own. I then shut it down and restarted it on it's own again. I decided that because the fuel pump would not run unless the engine was turning over and I wasn't turning it over long enough that the fuel pump was not reaching a high enough fuel pressure to push through the injectors and the starting fluid let it run long enough to build pressure. All I know is that it would not start untill I did this. So give it a shot!!

I will give it a try! thanks, but i do know that my pump is up to pressure.

How old is the fuel?

The fuel is only about a month old I put it in then when I attempted to start it the first time, but then I blew out the stock fuel line and replaced it with 6an line all the way to the rail.

Agree on the timing check .

I will check my timming, but it was spot on about a month ago, and sounded like it wanted to start a month ago before the fuel line blew up on me.
