had a tough time this moring 4 degrees outside today. car would crank would not turn over. seem to be the battery hooked up cables same shit. car pops out the exhaust while cranking. there is no C.E.L on. any input will be helpful. my car is a 91 talon tsi

A couple of possibilities. First, you could have flooded it. Pull a spark plug and see what it looks like. It should be some sort of tan. Black and wet is a fouled plug. Change them if they are black and wet. Now, you could also have a bad coolant temperature sensor. This replaces the choke back in the old days. You can either scan it to see if the sensor is around the same temp as the environment. (engine left to cool overnight) If it doesn't match, replace it.
