Okay here's a quick rundown of things I did to my car the week after Christmas:

1. Fuel pump rewire to my Walbro 255.

2. Installed a new radio. Had some problems with the illumination wire, so I ended up blowing the fuse for the taillights.

3. Rewired the radio and replaced the fuse for the taillights, Everything works now except the dash lights.

4. Found out it was a faulty rheostat. Bypassed that and now my dash lights work.

The same night, I drove from my parent's house to my place. Armed the alarm, but the alarm doesn't chirp as loud as it used to (folks with a Code Alarm system know what I'm talking about). The next morning, the alarm is still not as loud, but I drive to school anyways. I arm the car before class, but after class I try disarming the alarm. Nothing. I get into my car and try starting it. Everything turns on - radio, warning lights, etc. so I know it's not a dead battery. I try to start the car, but it won't start or even turn over. I turn the key again and hold it there. After a few seconds the car starts up right away, but I'm still not able to arm my alarm. Any ideas? I'm thinking maybe there's a loose connection at the battery terminal from when I disconnected my battery to do the rewire mod.

Well, a couple of things caught my attention. If you are running a 255 Walbro and the stock fpr, you may have some rich idle issues later on.

I would bet the farm this system has a starter interrupt. Who manufactured your alarm? If it's factory, I may be able to help, but that will take a few days as where I get my info sometimes takes a little time. If it's after market you will definitely have to contact the manufacturer.

Good Luck

Thanks for the help. I've been running with the Walbro 255lph for about 5 years now, and just finally performed the rewire. I also plan on picking up an aftermarket FPR with my next paycheck.

I'll try contacting the alarm manufacturer (Code Alarm) after looking for some of the more obvious things that I may have missed, such as a loose connection at one of the battery terminals or something like that.

I know I'm bringing back one of my old threads, but I think that my current problems may be related.

I found out that there was a set of wires going from my alarm's "brain" going to the siren in the engine bay. When I put my strut bar back on, it crushed the harness and the wires ended up exposed, touching each other, the strut bar, and the chassis. This blew the 20a fuse that was near the brain, causing the starting problems. I fixed the wires that got exposed and tried replacing the fuse, but every time I put a new one in, it blew. I tried using a 25a fuse and that seemed to work and the car started fine, and the alarm armed properly. The only problem I noticed was that the battery and brake indicator lights would come on every now and then, but that was it.

Fast forward a couple months...

I was on my way back to my place after spending the weekend at my parent's. It was raining really bad and it was night time, so I had my radio on, the lights on, and the windshield wipers. After about 30 minutes of driving, I noticed my interior lights were getting dimmer and the wipers started to slow down. I called my sister who was in the car ahead and she told me that my headlights were getting dimmer as well. I pulled over and the car wouldn't start. My Greddy TT was showing a voltage of only 7.x The battery and brake lights came on (which I later found out meant a faulty alternator) once when i first started driving and then again after I pulled over.

I had the car towed back to my parents' place and the next day we had our mechanic test the alternator, which was okay. We also ended up buying a new battery and now the voltage was back up to 13.5-14.x Unfortunately, the warning lights for the alternator still came on, but disappeared after awhile.

i'm thinking that maybe there's a problem with my alarm, since the problems all started when I accidently crushed the wires going to the siren. What do you guy think? Thanks in advance!
