ok. so i just bought this 96 eagle talon tsi awd a couple months ago. and had it stored for the winter. I have noticed that from a complete stop it is somewhat difficult to put it into first gear. also after putting the car in reverse it is hard. sometimes i have to throw it in second quick and then first just to get it in gear. does anyone have any suggestions? all the other gears are perfect. thanks guys

did you ever try and adjust the pedal? i want to try that and adjust the pedal engagement away from the floor. im wondering if its so close to the floor that the clutch isnt disengaging all the way..

you could try the pedal adjustment but i think you probably need new syncros in the tranny. let us know if the clutch pedal adjustment works.

yea. the pedal adjustment. didn't turn out to good. but it did give me time to throw my b&m short shifter in. new syncro's huh? sounds expensive. would that explain why it only wont go in for first gear. i mean the only real time i have problem is after i use reverse and then go back into first. does anyone else have this problem?

It's the clutch pedal adjustment. Jacks Transmissions has a video on it. It's a 2 man job though.

yea my clutch total whigged out on me last night in the burger king parking lot. it was driving fine i parked, and went to go drive it again and all of a sudden the clutch pedal was really stiff. as if the point where you disengage the clutch was at the very farthest point from the floor. i drove it a bit and it felt like the clutch was slipping. so i adjusted the clutch pedal a little bit and the clutch went fine. kinda weird if i say so myself. still doesn't help my first gear situation. i guess if i cant fix it cheap i can live with throwing it into second quick before.

also if you could send me a link to that or something that would be awesome!

Jacks Transmissions LLC — Welcome Also, change your transmission fluid. I had the same problem with 1st gear, but not other gears. Try using Redline transmission fluid. I don't recall where I found the writeup on the Redline mixture to use, though. Maybe on vfaq. But, it works! I have no problems with 1st gear anymore. Hope this helps.
