tricky reverse?

So, I just got my Laser back together later last week from changing my transmission (awd). I go to back out of our shop, and finding reverse is hard as hell! I keep ending up in fourth! And grinding on every gear I try (new mitsubishi clutch slave, with Exedy clutch, got a temporary longer rod made, real one is ordered, so that's figured out).
Does anyone have any ideas as to why reverse is hard to find? Shifter cables don't seem real sloppy, it just doesn't get over to reverse.

Did you bleed the clutch and make sure it was adjusted correctly?

Bled the slave twice, since I got a new braided line too, I pushed a lot of fluid through it

Longer slave rod does not work. Its a bandaid. Is this clutch stiffer than what you had? Could be indicative of a worn pedal and you did not notice before. Also did you check the flywheel step height?

Clutch is the same one that came in the car , and it ground a bit before, but reverse wasn't this bad.
I'll check out the clutch pedal mechanism when I can
