hey i have a 97 eclipse gst....now i started having problems with my clutch pedal going to the floor and not coming back up...so we assumed there was air in the clutch line and we bled it....it helped a little bit but im still having some trouble....now the clutch pedal is still doing the same thing (which leads me to believe i need to replace one of the cylinders for the clutch) and now it started getting REALLY hard to put it into gear and out of gear....do you think my trans could be going or maybe just need a new clutch? and how about that clutch pedal sticking down? please help!! this is my first car that is stick so im new to this thing....thanks for the help! :)

like any "internet" problem, it can be a number of things. Can be a clutch master, or what I think, your to bearing is probably in pieces. Start with the master(visual inspection), then check your slave. If both seem good, and your slave is moving like it should, then time to take the tranny off.

I would check to see if you have any leaking lines to start out with. Try bleeding the lines again, sometimes you will have to do it multiple times. Third, It could be a bad clutch, but I would check the other things first. I would think that your transmission is fine because your having hte most problems with the pedal. I am not sure this is a stupid question, but to be safe you have checked the clutch fluid resoviour?

ok ill def. check the throw out bearing and as for the clutch fluid resevoir....its full :( .....i thought of that too but im sad to say thats not the problem....and we bled the clutch line about 3 times so i really dont think its that anymore...but when i buy a new clutch....im pretty sure it comes with the new throw out bearing....am i right? cuz if thats the case...im going to buy a new clutch any way....and i'll also check the master and slave cylinders for the clutch....now how do i check them by looking at them? how can i tell if they are bad or good?

Before you pull anything, jack your car up and put it on JACKSTANDS. Have someone activate your clutch while you observe the travel of the slave cylinder. If it seems to be going full swing, then perhaps a mechanical reason exists. If it's not moving, or just barely moving, rethink your slave, master, or air, or pedal to master cylinder area.

Good Luck
