I have a "1g" trans, but does anybody know what these numbers mean?? On the bellhousing # pad these numbers appear BHC8389PH and stamped above are these
C51PH C8384. I think this thing came from Japan but Iam not sure. Its supposed to be a 1g awd 5-spd.

Its the numbers that will tell you everything about the tranny, the make date, what style(fwd/awd), ect...At store they have a "zebra code" on everything, its essentially the same thing.

Yes first gear is taller, and I believe 6 mph faster then Talon or Eclipse 1st gears. Not sure about it bolting up to a 7-bolt engine, but it comes off a 6-bolt. When you say "whats it worth?" Do you mean if you sell it what you could get for it? If so it depends on the condition, and what someone is willing to pay.

With the right flywheel you should be able to mount it(bell housings are the same size). Where you might come into problems is with the difference in spline counts on the output shaft. Your shifter cable.
And I'm not sure but the Rear differentials might be different..

That is partially correct. There are two different GVR4 1st gears, one is from the normal GVR4 with a 2.846 ratio. The other is geared even higher, it's from the GVR4 RS Evolution and has a 2.571 1st gear. The problem is that it uses 3.909 gears in the front diff, so you would either have to change that to the 3.545 gear from a dsm/VR4 or change the rear diff to the RS Evolution diff.

not to hijack anything, this is also related to trannies and ratios, vfaq says 1g and 2g dsm have the same gear ratios, but when I got my 2g I definitly notice taller gears, used to go about 95kph (~59mph) redline in 2nd and now goes almost 115kph (~72mph) and 1st is very noticably more drivable, very short and jumpy in the 1g.

Well this things for sale (Canada Only) if someone wants it. I'll take my chances with syncromesh for my stocker. email me at [email protected] if you're interested in it. I bought it from a reputable turbo/dyno shop and they bought it for the T-case. I paid 400 and thats what i'd like to get out of it. Thanks

My name is Steven Perez i am 24 years old I drive a 95 mitsu Eclipse n/t I do have a question during the swap, I mean going from a 420A to the notorious 4G63 would it be easier on me to just replace the entire A frame or to just relocate my mounts? And by doing so what all do I need other than the essentials ( ECU/ harness/Engine/transmission ) My question relates to the suspension part of the car I am only guessing that I will need to replace all that As well. I already have my engine as for my transmission who should i go with shep trans are pretty good I have been told but if there is one that is better please feel free to post.:dsm:
