yesterday, I replaced the manual transaxle, manual transmission and rear differential fluid with a mixture of 70% amsoil 75W-90W and 30% lucas oil stabilizer. The difference in the shifting smoothness is substantial, it is defintely worth doing if you have 2nd gear grind and trouble getting into first gear.
some hints for the task:
If you are mixing oils with stabilizers do it before you put it in a seperate container (I just emptied out a little oil from the amsoil bottle and added the stabilizer) After you jack up the car make sure to loosen and remove the filler plugs first (this way if it wont come off, you'll know this first before you drain your fluid and by having an air hole in your system the fluid will drain faster/easier when you remove the drain plug).
to fill:
you have to get either a oil filler pump or a hose that is at least 4 ft long attached to a funnel. (I used the funnel method by attaching one of those clear plastic hoses to the end of a black plastic funnel extender from autozone). When filling, place your oil pan under the filler plug and fill to the point of the base of the plug (the easiest way to do this is to just fill till it starts dripping into the oil pan.
the bolt sizes for the transmission are 17mm for the filler plug and 15/16s (in) for the drain plug (you'll need a socket and rachet). the manual transaxle has the same filler plug drain plug sizes, and the rear differential has both filler and drain plug at 15/16s. (this is for a g1)
I used approx. 3 1/2 quarts of oil and the stabilizer for the job (there was overspill from filling and accidently spilled one of the bottles while climbing under the car. )
when you have all the oil collected remember to take it to autozone and they'll recycle it for free.
happy dsming.

) and connected that to my clear funnel that was only a foot long.
