transmission fluid getting to cold? auto

what happens if the fluid gets too cold? i know getting to hot will EFF UP YER TRANS... but ### if it is too cool?

the reason i ask is because i was considering buying a cheapy trans cooler from autozone and installing it after my stock one... where i live it gets around 0 degrees in the winter but can see upwards of 90 in the summer.... i REALLY dont want to be toasting a transmission in my new ride... and i do like driving it hard sometimes...

over kill isnt a big deal to me but i was wondering if getting too cool would also cause problems

I say that you head out to your local junk yard and pick yourself up a stock trans cooler off a late 90's chevrolet suburban. They have a B&M stack plate cooler which is a nice upgrade/better that any cooler you will ge at autozone.

but what about running two coolers? what i am saying is running both coolers in series... maybe adding a fan into the equation... i just want to know what happens if the fluid gets too cool...

That might not be so much of a good idea. running the transmission fluid cooler is always good, but im sure that running it too cool could cause some trouble as well.

i guesse ill have to go suburban hunting before summer hits... if i remember the greddy one is like 150 bones... eff that

also will the suburban one fit in nicely... im not into the whole cutting and welding thing

Your just going to be paying for a brand by getting an expesive transns cooler. I have a B&M transcooler, one day I went over to my local junk yard looking for a power steering cooler and I found wha looked like a B&M cooler.

When I got home I compared it to my actual B&M cooler and it was Identical to mine. It even had a made in canada stamp just like my B&M cooler and part number.

I got it for $17. Just make sure you clean it real good before using it thought :thumb.

where exactly is the cooler located? maybe extra ducting or a fan would help the stock?

Well it should be right up front of the car, not exactly in the middle but a few inches towards the driver side. Im not sure if all 2g DSM came with an external trans cooler from the manufacturer. Some might have come with an internal cooler that runs thru the radiator.

I have read that if you use too large of a cooler the auto may not warm up enough to shift into OD.

Has anyone seen this problem?
