Well I went and bought a transmission filter kit because my transmission is slipping and I'm going to change the old one out. the guy at the part store gave me the filter and 4qts of atf transmission fluid. Did he give me the right fluid? He said that is what the computer said it took, do I need gasket sealer?

I changed out the transmission gasket and filter.

Who ever was wondering how to change out the filter n/t atx.

There are 14 bolts on the bottom of the trans pan. Loosen them a few turns but do not remove.

Put a pan under it and crack the pan. Let it drain for a while, then remove the pan.

The filter is right there after you get the pan off. Pull it off, put new one on. Then put a new gasket and reinstall the pan. Torque specifications 168inch-lbs

The filter kit comes with a new gasket.

-With the vehicle parked at a level place, remove the filler plug and check that the oil level. The level must be 4 mm (.157 in.) or less under the lower edge of the filler plug hole. The level must be up to the lower edge of the filler plug hole.
-Check that the transmission oil is not noticeably dirty, and that it has a suitable viscosity.

You can get lucky sometimes by doing this but generally once the trans is slipping the damage has already been done. Once the fluid loses its lubricity its starts to break down and varnish and thats how the parts fail. Dirt and debris starts to form inside the trans and the hotter and harder it runs at this point the faster the wear occurs. Now the trans is slipping and you decide to put new fluid in it. That new trans fluid acts as a detergent and now starts to clean out all that dirt and debris allowing more clearence between already worn parts. It has been known to kill a dieing transmission even faster although some people get lucky. Seeing it work in my friends truck tha he completly pounded on day in day out with a blown trans I would recommend lucas tranny stop slip. It got his trans from not having a 3rd gear and slipping 2nd to having a 3rd gear and an ok shifting 2nd. This lasted for a year and he drove it about 15k-20k miles

I don't know if it did work because it turns out my fluid was leaking it looks like the pan has a small crack. I will need to replace it, so I did lose alot of fluid on the road and the car got stuck in 2nd i think.:notgood:

Well I am about to install a new pan and atf+4 fluid, I'll be sure to get pics and let you know if it did work. I might sell the dsm but we will see.
