I just purchased a '91 Eagle Talon AWD Turbo with an automatic I need a transfer case. Previous owner ran it dry and locked it up at 60 mph!!
I found a case from a JDM automatic, any idea if it will fit.
Thanks
Pat

Pat,

You should definitely give a dealer a shot, you do not have much to loose. If you put up enough of a fight, you might be able to get to do it for free, even if they claim that it was already done. Safety recalls are supposed to be for the life of the car!

But if you fail to get it paid for, or if you do not feel like fighting the Satan, I would just compare the ratios between the two transfer cases (by making a mark on the splines and counting number of turns it takes for trailing spline to catch up, it should be around 20 turns). There have been so many variations between JDM/US models, so I would not want to introduce another variable into it!

I had the recall done none the less it was fight. At first they said they couldnt do it because the yolk was already replaced. I fought with them and said i know you do it again and if you dont and my wheels lock up they are getting a xfer case in their window. I believe what the guy told me is that they can do a duplicate recall. If you tell them you know its a lifetime recall and just bi*** a lot they should do it. If they still dont call up dodge or mitsubishi.

Safety recalls are for the life of the car, regardless of how many times its been done. If it failed to fix it the last time, then they have to try, try again. At least thats my understanding. Theres a link to the actual recall somewhere on here i believe, a little searching should hopefully unearth it.

Every Mitsubishi rep, tech and service staff person I've asked has said that Mitsubishi recalls are NOT covered for the life of the vehicle. It's always been Chrysler's policy, at every chrysler dealership I've worked at, to in deed cover a recall as many times as the repair is needed. You may want to refer to this thread:

If you would like to continue asking questions about a "JDM" t-case then this is the place. If you wish to find out more info on the recall itself, you can read that thread I posted above and follow up through it.
