i bought some royal purple syncromax transmission fluid for my 5 speed, is it ok to use that in my transfer case? or do i need to take it back and get some other kind of gear oil?
 
You'll be fine. The transfer case and transmission use the same oil. It's the rear end that uses gear lube, which is different.
