Trans shot? Keep going vs. Throw in the towl

I bought my dsm about a year ago , about 6 months in the engine started knocking
its a 98 eclipse GSX Auto . I bought the best rebuild i could find .

Dsm grave yard hooked up this engine for me ,
and while they were in there i bought a whole list of new parts

alt , harmonic balencer, starter, oil pump evo 16g from fp with less then 200 miles on it , new battery , wires , new control arms and tie rods , new lifters ....prob some more im forgetting.

its on its way back 2 me and the trans starts ####in up . When u put it in drive it goes forward feels like its building presure and then kicks.


Whats everyones opinion can i get 2gs out of this car as is with a running motor and a good body?

should i go the extra mile and replace the trans?

Look at local junkyards or if you wanted to put in the time convert it to 5speed. I have put countless money into my money pit car and the days it runs i love it.

Look at IPT. I'm pretty sure they are the ones to go to for the autos!!

I just bought a new rebuilt tranny from TRE. I'm gonna take mine out of my car and try to sell it if you would be interested you can call me at 5174161400. It is a 5spd. Like 97gst1126 said its time to covert. It works fine. I just wanted to get a stronger one for the track!

Get the new tranny. You already whent the extra mile with replacing the motor and getting some good parts. Don't even consider quiting, just decide if you want a 5speed or another auto and keep looking. Replace the trans you will be happy as long as you maintain the car properly after fixing. GOOD LUCK

how much do u think im looking at to have the tranny i already have re built
i dont think its completly shot dsm graveyard is guessing its solenoids or the torque converter.

Its not Sorry those are all 5 spds. But like the poster up top said, check out IPT. THey are good for auto trannys. I know how you feel about quiting. Im completely new and I got royally screwed on getting my first one about 8 months ago. Well long story short after all the little issues and rust, I quit, but Monday Im buying a fully built motor and tranny, 90 talon So I did quit but I didnt
