i am having trouble shifting between gears while driving. i have to rev match while pushing the clutch to get it into gear other wise the gears grind.. are there and cheaper fixes than taking it to a shop for trans work? i have bled the clutch and checked the transaxle fluid already. also when i step on the clutch to go to the next gear or slow down the motor bogs way down like there is a load on it?. any suggestions?. anyone had this problem before?

I'd guess your clutch isn't fully disengaging. Sounds more like a hydrolic issue than anything. I'd try to see if you can have someone check that out.

How far off the floor is the clutch engaging? If it's right at the floor you may still have air in your system. If it feels normal or good to you then you may have a problem inside the transmission. Do you hear whining or howling or anything like that while driving? If the trans is perfectly quiet then you can rule out bearings. You still could be installing synchros. See what your local Mitsubishi dealer says about this. They may recommend a fluid change or something like that. Do that before you start really spending money.

Good Luck

when i let off the gas there is a whine that seems to come from the tranny.. also it seems to engage like it normally has which has always been about and inch or so off the floor that's when it STARTS to engage? is that too soon? it's always been like that though.. i already changed the fluid on the clutch and the trans has new oil in it too.

i took it to the dealership and they bled the clutch system and came up with a diagnosis.... they say i need some synchros and they think the hub sleeve and gears are damaged so i am lookin for a new transmission... only thing is.. i don't know much about that... who makes a good transmission or should i order a dealer trans brand new?.. what would be the most cost effective way to go about this?....i do know that if i am replacing the trans i am putting a new ACT 2600 clutch in and i wasn't sure if a lighter flywheel is a necessity also i know that while i have it out i want to have an LSD installed.. or is that not needed.. my ultimate plans are to run low 13's and still be able to drive it daily to work. any body got any suggestions or info just pm me or e-mail me thanks

Well if the tranny is still shifting, use it until you need to replace it. I would use BG Syncro shift 2 tranny lube for better shifting. Dealers will try to rip you off. They wan't you to get a tranny so they can take Hundreds of dollars in labour.

1. Check for master/slave cylinder leaks
2. Bleed the system (Hydraulic system)
3. Check your freeplay (DSM Manual or haynes or chiltons) - This will tell you if your clutch is too worn out or not

Do these yourself, they don't require fancy tools and you will save money on labour. A bad clutch can cause grinding as well as bad syncros.

OK i will have to get some bg synchroshift where is the best place to buy from? Mach V motorsports?.. that is the only place i have seen it. i have checked the slave cylinder and it is not leaking i have not been under the dash yet to check the master cylinder. i have already bled the system 3 times myself and 1 time at the shop already. and i will have to look in my haynes manual on the freeplay.. which freeplay are you referring to?. pedal assembly or hydraulic system freeplay..(if there is such a thing).. my 1-2 shift is really bad 3-4 is a lil tough and 5 is a pain in the butt too.. i cannot downshift while moving either it just wants to grind. even when i try to rev match with the clutch pushed in or not using the clutch i get the same effect.. also if i slow down and don't push the clutch in it stumbles really bad and stops when i push the clutch in.? what is that? do i need new engine/trans mounts? thanks for all the help i will try to work on it throughout the week. thanks again

Check your pedal freeplay. Compare it to specs in the manual. Too much freeplay will cause grinding, and too light will cause grinding (Usually means worn out clutch). Worst comes to worst, pull your tranny and see the condition of the syncro's. It might take a bit of time, however, it isn't very difficult.
