I just bought a 94 Eagle talon. Today i was going down a side street and boom. The tranny locked up. I mean LOCKED up! The tranny is loose the only thing that is holding it up is the engine mount. What Happened? I wasnt playing at all. I was on the way to the mechanic. So my question is this. What could have caused it. I just had a new clutch and starter installed. Did I mention it only has 130k. Anyone please Help. thanks

so let me get this straight the only thing holding your trans in the car was the mount?

I took the front tires and all off today. as far as I can tell there is/was only one bolt holding it on. The front bolt into the engine is stripped. the rest of the bolts are absent. I think that the shadetree mechanic I had work on it did not use locktite on the bolts. I am not sure. All I know is the engine is being held up/on by the tranny mount that connects to the top. I can move the tranny however I want. Is this something that can mess up the tranny? Can i get more bolts? Where? What size? Is the engine shot? Can anyone help? Thanks.

You will have to check the threads in all the bolt holes in the block to see how many were broken off in the block or just stripped completely out.

You can probably use a tap and rethread them if they arent too far gone, If they are broken off in the block you will have to extract them with vice grips if you can get a grip on them if not you may have to drill them and use an easy out.

then figure out why it happened in the first place, Even wthout locktite if they were installed correctly and a torque wrench used to the correct specs they should have been fine.

Either way it will take some time and effort to get to the root cause.
