tranny help quick question?

im considering buying a 93 eclipse turbo only issue is the kid says the shifter cable pops off and you have to go under the hood and put it on. he says the shift lenches need adjustment? i have never heard of this does anyone know why the shifter cable could just pop off and is it hard to fix?

It would pop off if he didn't put the cotter pin back in it, simple fix, slide a new pin in, done.

Before I bought it though I would put the new pin in and take it for a drive just to make sure everything else checks out.
