Tranny does not want to shift....

I just bought a 94 eclipse rs. The engine is the 1.8l with a automatic tranny. The problem I am having with the car is that the trans does not want to shift smoothly or go into first when you stop. The trans in the car is from a 91 rs with the same 1.8l motor. I was wondering if i needed to switch computers from the 94 to the 91, but my knowledge of the 1.8l engine and trans is very limited. If any of you guys know how to fix my problem please, all advice is welcome.

Try checking the motor and trans mounts. If the tranny has any flex when the clutch slave cylender is pushing on the fork then it will not fully disengage. Also try adjusting the clutch petal as they have a tendancy to go out in the 1g. This assumes the clutch and everything is in good order.

The engine is the 1.8l with a automatic tranny.

Not everyone has a manual.

Check mounts.

You need to inspect the trans fluid. Replace if bad. That is the cheap fix.

Next you can try the electronics.

Changing the fluid is a cheap and most of the time fixes the problem.

yeup, check your oil level with the car on and warmed up
