alaright well i got my 95 awd tsi about three weeks ago
it was doing good til last week the tranny started grinding in every gear and there
was this loud noise everytime id start the car and rev it.
well yesterday the tranny got pulled out, took of the cluctch and found that all the flywheels bolts were coming lose and that you could pretty much just
take a wrench and take the bolts of with ease,

Now my question is ,could that be that why the gears always kept grinding?
If it is should i just put on a new flywheel with new clutch and try that?
i Already have a clutch so if that could be the case what flywheel should i go with?
If the tranny is also a problem how should i go about replacing or fixing it it??

Any input will be appreciated.

oh no the holes in the fly wheel are egged out but how would i inspect the crank?
id think just were the bolt go in for any damage?

A few notes about your AWD 95.
The flywheel will be 106 tooth (not 110 like a FWD).
make sure the replacement is 106.

You should not need a transfer case.

I agree that loose flywheel bolts cause all kinds of problems. How do the teeth
on the flywheel look?

And since you have it all apart, please look at and determine that the
starter plate (the flat piece of steel bolted to the engine block, behind
the flywheel) that holds the starter in alignment with the trans has a round
hole for the starter and only the two starter bolt holes (not three).
I say this because if the starter plate is wrong for the car it can cause problems also.
The starter plates for FWD and AWD are different, not-interchangeable and should be there.

My AWD car had an FWD plate (probably from a FWD transplant engine) and
the starter was grinding really bad. We had to replace flywheel.

Did you ever have trouble with 5th gear and reverse ? If so there is a
sort of easy fix that might work without removing trans. If you have grinding in
any other gears then you may need synchros.
We switched to Redline MT90 oil and have been really pleased with how the trans works.

Our car is basically all stock.

and the metal plate is the correct one but since i got a new
clucth i thought maybe it would be a good idea to upgrade
