Any one have any info on traction bars for DSM's? Like the ones people use on Honda's or SRT-4's? I coulnd't find any info or anyone thats sells them.

Too bad we couldn't just throw a pair of slapper bars on the back and be done with it like the old V8 guys could......

Dan, I don't believe there is anything out there that is mass produced and labeled, if that's what you're looking for. But I do feel confident that we could easily fabricate something that would work. (enter: winter project #37)

We could design a bar that bolts to the chassis up front. Then take some radius rods with rod ends on each end and link that bar with the lower control arms. That should eliminate wheel hop and tire shake and improve your 60 ft. times. It works for the Honda guys anyway......

1Gs have a one-piece lower A-arm in the front. How much fore-aft movement do you get with good bushings, such as solid plastic or Delrin? If you are still getting movement, why not just go with metal bearings? Why add a new piece that will bind when there is vertical movement?

Are these available for purchase, or would we have to machine a set?

That is a good point. I believe the Honda guys used the system I described for track use only. They remove the radius arms for street driving.

The only OTS bushings I know of are urethane. You'd want something with zero give for a true parallel-mount A-arm. So it would have to be custom.

Do the Hondas have a true lower A-arm or is it some two-arm set-up as on a 2G? If they have two lower arms, I could see the need for traction bars. I don't quite get the need for these on a car with a solid, one-piece A-arm such as a 1G. But maybe my car just doesn't make enough power for me to understand. ;)

The Honda's have a single lower control arm not like our full arms but ill stand to say those bars make a night and day difference. A friend has some on his boosted LS civic hatch and they made a huge difference, it spins posi better,(less peg leg) less wheel hop, and a much better feel of stability at 100+mph. Ill take a look at my car and see if there can be a bolt in kit, but willing to say you would prob have to weld brackets to the frame rails.
